We are seeking an experienced and highly credible trustee leader to assume the role of CEO, Malaysia Trustees Berhad (MTB) / Head, Group Trustee Business.
This strategic leadership position is responsible for overseeing and driving the overall Trustee business across both Malaysia Trustees Berhad (MTB) and RHB Trustees Berhad (RHBT), ensuring strong governance, regulatory compliance, fiduciary oversight, and sustainable business growth. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise across Trustee Services, Corporate Trust, Fiduciary Services, Unit Trust, Sukuk Trustee, REIT Trustee, Asset Management governance, regulatory compliance, and trust deed oversight within a regulated financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Business Leadership
- Lead and oversee the overall Trustee Services business across Malaysia Trustees Berhad and RHB Trustees Berhad.
- Drive business growth, market positioning, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability across Corporate Trust, Unit Trust, Sukuk Trustee, REIT Trustee, and Fiduciary Services portfolios.
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives aligned with the Group's objectives and regulatory expectations.
- Ensure strong governance standards while balancing commercial and fiduciary responsibilities.
Regulatory Compliance & Governance Oversight
- Ensure both trustee entities operate in full compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including:
- Securities Commission Malaysia (SC)
- Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM)
- Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM)
- Trust deeds and fiduciary obligations
- Oversee governance frameworks, internal controls, compliance standards, and risk management practices to safeguard investor interests and trust assets.
- Ensure all trustee and fiduciary activities are conducted with integrity, transparency, and in accordance with regulatory expectations.
- Maintain strong oversight across Asset Management-related trustee responsibilities and regulatory obligations.
Board Governance & Reporting
- Provide strategic and operational updates to the Boards of Directors and relevant Board Committees.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of statutory and regulatory reports, including financial statements and governance-related filings.
- Oversee internal audits, compliance reviews, and operational risk assessments to maintain operational integrity.
Regulatory & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary liaison with regulators including the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), CCM, and BNM on all trustee-related matters.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, clients, business partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure timely notification and reporting of any material operational, structural, or governance changes.
Conflict of Interest & Fiduciary Oversight
- Strengthen frameworks to identify, monitor, and mitigate conflicts of interest.
- Ensure investor interests are prioritized at all times across both trustee entities.
- Uphold the highest standards of fiduciary responsibility, governance, and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 9 years of relevant experience within Trustee Services, Corporate Trust, Fiduciary Services, Asset Management, Unit Trust, Sukuk Trustee, REIT Trustee, Investment Banking, or related financial services sectors.
- Strong understanding of trustee governance, fiduciary responsibilities, regulatory compliance frameworks, and trust deed obligations.
- Proven experience engaging with the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), Boards, regulators, and senior leadership stakeholders.
- Experience leading or overseeing trustee operations within regulated financial institutions is highly preferred.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree minimum qualification.
- Candidates with Legal, Accounting, Finance, Corporate Secretarial, or related professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
