About the role
Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur is seeking a skilled and passionate Chef de Partie - Chinese Kitchen to join our dynamic culinary team. As a Chef de Partie, you will be responsible for overseeing an assigned kitchen section, ensuring the consistent preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, hygiene, and operational excellence.
What You'll Be Doing
- Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes in accordance with recipes, specifications, and presentation standards.
- Take ownership of an assigned kitchen section, ensuring efficient daily operations and consistent food quality.
- Supervise, train, and mentor Demi Chefs, Commis Chefs, and kitchen assistants to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Plan and prepare mise-en-place for restaurant service, banquets, and special functions.
- Monitor food quality, portion control, stock levels, and waste management to achieve operational efficiency.
- Ensure all food is prepared and served promptly while maintaining the highest culinary standards.
- Maintain strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
- Assist the Sous Chef and Head Chef with inventory management, ordering, menu development, and kitchen administration as required.
- Contribute ideas for menu improvements and continuously enhance culinary standards within the kitchen.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a professional kitchen, including experience as a Demi Chef or Chef de Partie, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Strong culinary knowledge with the ability to manage an assigned kitchen section independently.
- Proven leadership and supervisory skills with experience coaching and developing junior kitchen staff.
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management abilities.
- Ability to perform efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality food standards.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with a proactive attitude.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen sanitation practices.
- Flexible and adaptable to operational requirements across various kitchen sections.
