We are looking for a Chemist to develop, maintain, and optimize production processes and formulations. In this role, you will help ensure consistent product quality, Right First Time performance, and stable, efficient production, while supporting continuous improvement and operator capability.
This position will be based in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan and reports to Senior Chemist.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain customer-friendly products in line with Jotun R&D process guidelines by preparing, testing, and evaluating raw materials to ensure product performance and compliance with brand specifications and customer expectations.
- Prepare and release formulations for lab colour matching, RTLs, and new product production, including defined QC and process specifications with optimized process parameters.
- Update and revise formulations based on Group R&D instructions, guidelines, and latest technical updates.
- Improve efficiency by reducing the number of colour-matching cycles per sample, supporting routine operations in line with lead-time targets.
- Optimize product recipes to maintain local market competitiveness within regional and global R&D frameworks.
- Plan and coordinate RTL-related laboratory activities in collaboration with lab operators, providing on-the-job training, guidance, and technical leadership.
- Conduct and ensure testing in accordance with Jotun standards and international standards (ISO, ASTM, AAMA, Qualicoat, etc.).
- Provide technical support and work closely with maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure incoming raw material quality in compliance with Group R&D process guidelines.
- Analyze raw materials and finished products to maintain consistent product quality delivered to customers.
- Support investigations into production deviations, quality issues, and customer complaints.
- Adhere to Jotun standards and ISO procedures to enhance consistency, traceability, and continuous improvement within the factory.
- Prepare and provide compliance documentation in line with regulatory and customer requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (Chemistry or Chemical Engineering background) with minimum 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in Powder Coatings.
- Must be proficient in verbal and written English with a clear, precise and structured manner of communication.
