Our client, a leading retail organization, is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic financial leadership and support the company's growth objectives. The CFO will oversee all financial aspects of the business, including financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury, tax, compliance, risk management, and commercial finance, while partnering closely with executive leadership to drive profitability, operational excellence, and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the organization's financial strategy in alignment with business objectives.
- Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and Board on financial performance, business expansion, investments, and risk management.
- Lead long-term financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and capital allocation initiatives.
- Support strategic initiatives including store expansion, digital transformation, mergers and acquisitions, and new business ventures.
- Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting, financial reporting, treasury, tax, and audit functions.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain strong financial controls, governance, and compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, investors, and regulatory authorities.
Commercial & Retail Finance
- Partner with commercial, operations, merchandising, and supply chain teams to improve business performance.
- Drive profitability through effective pricing, margin optimization, inventory management, and cost control initiatives.
- Monitor key retail performance indicators, including sales growth, gross margin, inventory turnover, stock shrinkage, and store profitability.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support decision-making across the organization.
- Treasury & Working Capital Management
- Optimize cash flow, liquidity, and working capital performance.
- Manage banking facilities, financing arrangements, and capital expenditure planning.
- Establish robust treasury and cash management practices to support business growth.
- Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Strengthen internal controls and corporate governance frameworks.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and commercial partnership.
- Build organizational capabilities to support future business growth.
Requirements
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, CIMA, or equivalent.
- MBA or advanced business qualification is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 8 years in a senior finance leadership role.
- Proven experience as CFO, Finance Director, or Head of Finance within the retail, consumer, FMCG, or F&B Industry.
- Strong understanding of retail business models, inventory management, supply chain finance.
