Chief Legal Officer

Our client is a fast-growing financial technology platform building regulated infrastructure across capital markets, digital assets, and next-generation financial services. The organization operates across Asia and is focused on developing compliant financial ecosystems that bridge traditional finance with emerging digital asset markets.

Role Overview

A senior legal leader is being appointed to oversee the organization's legal strategy and governance as it continues to scale its regulated financial services and digital asset platforms.

This individual will work closely with the CEO and executive leadership team, providing strategic legal guidance while ensuring the business operates within complex and evolving regulatory frameworks. The role will lead the development of internal legal capabilities and play a key role in enabling growth across Asia and other global markets.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the overall legal strategy and governance framework across the organization

Act as the primary legal advisor to the CEO and senior leadership on regulatory risk, corporate governance, and strategic initiatives

Provide legal oversight across regulated financial services including capital markets, investment products, and digital asset infrastructure

Advise on legal and regulatory matters relating to digital assets including tokenization, stablecoins, custody arrangements, and trading platforms

Support capital markets activities including securities, derivatives, and investment fund structures

Lead negotiation and structuring of commercial agreements, strategic partnerships, and institutional client arrangements

Support fundraising initiatives, investment transactions, and corporate finance matters

Establish scalable legal frameworks supporting digital asset issuance, tokenization, and regulated trading platforms

Monitor regulatory developments in fintech and digital assets and provide strategic guidance to the business

Manage relationships with external counsel and legal advisors across multiple jurisdictions

Build and lead a high-performing in-house legal team while fostering strong governance and accountability

Candidate Profile

LL.B or Juris Doctor from a recognized institution with admission to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction

Approximately 15+ years of post-qualification legal experience

Significant leadership experience within fintech, financial services, or regulated financial markets

Prior experience at a reputable law firm, ideally reaching senior associate, counsel, or junior partner level

Strong expertise in financial services regulation, capital markets law, corporate finance, investment funds, or digital asset regulation

Experience advising on regulated financial platforms such as exchanges, trading venues, or investment management businesses

Familiarity with legal frameworks surrounding digital assets, tokenization, and blockchain-based financial infrastructure

Strategic thinker with strong commercial judgment and the ability to operate effectively in fast-moving regulatory environments

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Fluency in English required; Mandarin capability preferred for regional collaboration
