ABOUT THE ROLE

SHF Services is seeking a highly driven and hands-on Chief Operating Officer to lead and strengthen our multi-site F&B and contract catering operations across Malaysia. This role is critical in ensuring operational excellence, consistency, and scalability across all sites, while enabling the CEO to focus on strategic growth and business expansion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Leadership & Standards

  • Oversee and direct all Operations Managers across all brands and regions
  • Ensure monthly site inspections and structured KPI reporting by all Operations Managers
  • Drive operational consistency in food quality, service delivery, and site execution

Food Safety, Hygiene & Compliance

• Develop, implement, and enforce structured SOPs across all operational sites

• Ensure compliance with Malaysian food safety regulations — Food Act 1983, HACCP, and halal requirements

• Maintain audit readiness across all outlets, including international standards (ISO, client-specific audits)

• Oversee corrective action plans for any non-compliance findings

Cost Control & Efficiency

• Manage and optimise food cost and manpower cost across all sites

• Identify operational inefficiencies and propose data-driven corrective solutions

• Monitor KPIs and produce regular operational performance reports for CEO review

Client Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key institutional clients

• Represent SHF in client discussions, service reviews, escalations, and renewals

• Respond to client concerns with professionalism and a resolution-first approach

Systems, SOPs & Scalable Growth

• Create reporting structures that allow transparent, real-time visibility of site performance

• Build scalable operational processes to support SHF's regional growth agenda

DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY

The COO may make independent decisions on:

• Day-to-day site management matters and corrective actions

• Supplier coordination and quality issue resolution

• Operational resource allocation within approved budgets

• Hygiene and compliance non-conformance rectification

The following require CEO approval:

• New contracts and pricing decisions

• Major capital or investment expenditures

• Significant changes to staff structure or headcount

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The ideal COO for SHF is:

• A proven multi-site F&B or contract catering operator — not a purely strategic executive

• Someone who commands respect from Operations Managers and earns trust from institutional clients

• Disciplined and systematic — able to build operational structures where none currently exist

• Diplomatically strong — able to establish authority without creating unnecessary friction

• Charismatic enough to bring teams along, not just enforce from above

• Hands-on and field-comfortable — not desk-bound

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 10 years in F&B or catering operations, with at least 5 years in a senior multi-site leadership role

• Demonstrated experience managing regional operations across multiple sites or locations

• Sound knowledge of Malaysian food service regulatory environment — Food Act 1983, HACCP, halal compliance (essential)

• Familiarity with international food safety and audit standards (ISO, SMETA) — advantageous

• Strong command of English for business communication and client representation (essential)

• Knowledge of additional languages such as Mandarin is a further advantage
