We are now looking for a
Coating Process Engineer. This position will be located in Johor Bahru, Malaysia
What You Will Do
- Support daily coating operations by monitoring and adjusting process parameters to ensure stable production and consistent product quality (adhesion, smoothness, coating weight, etc.)
- Analyze process issues (defects, variability, waste) and contribute to root cause identification and resolution
- Participate in industrial trials (new materials, process settings, product validation) and support implementation on production lines
- Work closely with automation teams to improve process control and machine performance
- Collaborate with maintenance to enhance equipment reliability and optimize machine settings
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma) to improve efficiency and reduce waste
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation (process standards, work instructions, reports)
- Support knowledge transfer and training of operators and technicians
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards at all times
Who You Are
- You have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or a related engineering discipline
- You have 2 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in coating, converting, extrusion, or similar processes is an advantage but not mandatory
- You have a basic understanding of automation and process control, including PLC, HMI, and industrial systems
- You have strong analytical thinking with a structured approach to problem solving
- You have a hands-on mindset and are willing to work close to the shopfloor and equipment
- You have good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with production, maintenance, and automation teams
- You are eager to learn and develop technical expertise in coating processes
- You are able to work independently while also being a reliable team player
- You have proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both spoken and written
