We're hiring an experienced AS400 COBOL Developer to support a major initiative with a Tier‑1 consulting firm in Kuala Lumpur. Role Overview
As an AS400 COBOL Developer, you will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and supporting legacy applications running in the IBM i ecosystem. You will work closely with technical teams, business stakeholders, and project leads to ensure smooth system performance and timely delivery of enhancements or fixes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform development and support activities for AS400 / IBM i applications using COBOL.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues to maintain system stability.
- Enhance existing functionalities and ensure compatibility across integrated systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in planning, testing, and deployment activities.
- Prepare documentation, technical specifications, and change records as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Strong, current hands-on experience with AS400 / IBM i, COBOL, and relevant legacy technologies.
- Solid understanding of legacy application maintenance, debugging, and optimization.
- Experience working in enterprise environments with structured SDLC processes.
- Ability to analyze complex issues and work independently with minimal guidance.
