Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Commis Pastry role based at Hyatt Centric City Centre Kuala Lumpur in WP. Kuala Lumpur. The Commis Pastry will support the pastry kitchen in preparing, baking, and presenting a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods to brand standards. Daily tasks include measuring and mixing ingredients, operating baking equipment, assembling and decorating pastries, and assisting in menu mise en place. The role is responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, consistency, and portion control while following hygiene, food safety, and storage procedures. The Commis Pastry will collaborate with the pastry and culinary team, follow guidance from senior chefs, and help ensure a clean, organized, and efficient pastry section during service and preparation times.

Qualifications

Good basic

  • foundation in pastry production, including Bakery and Baking skills for breads, cakes, desserts, and related items.
  • Basic Cooking knowledge to support broader kitchen operations and coordinate with other culinary sections.
  • Creativity skills to contribute to attractive pastry presentation, garnishing, and occasional menu or display ideas.
  • Sound understanding of Hygiene standards, food safety, and cleanliness in all pastry and kitchen areas.
  • Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant, or pastry shop environment is an advantage.
  • Culinary or pastry certification/diploma is preferred but equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately, with strong attention to detail and consistency.
  • Good teamwork, communication skills, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required by hotel operations.
