Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Communication & Fundraising Manager is responsible for driving MAB's fundraising growth, strengthening brand visibility, and building strategic relationships that support the organisation's mission. This role leads the fundraising, communications, and donor engagement functions, ensuring the development of innovative campaigns, impactful storytelling, and strong stakeholder relations. The Manager will identify opportunities, secure financial and non-financial support, and work closely with the leadership team to ensure MAB's long-term sustainability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Fundraising Strategy & Income Generation
  • Develop, lead, and implement integrated fundraising, marketing, and communication strategies to attract donors, sponsors, partners, and volunteers.
  • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, including grants, CSR partnerships, foundations, High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs), and community-based fundraising.
  • Research and monitor trends in philanthropy, corporate giving, and nonprofit fundraising to enhance MAB's competitiveness.
  • Ensure all fundraising activities are impact-driven, well-executed, and aligned with MAB's mission and financial goals.

2. Donor Engagement & Stewardship

  • Cultivate, manage, and strengthen relationships with existing donors, sponsors, partners, and media stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive donor management strategies to improve engagement, retention, stewardship, and long-term partnerships.
  • Maintain accurate donor records, monitor donor journeys, and ensure timely reporting, updates, and appreciation.

3. Communications, Branding & Public Relations

  • Oversee organisation-wide communications, branding, and PR initiatives including media relations, press releases, advocacy materials, publications, digital content, and campaigns.
  • Strengthen MAB's visibility and credibility through strategic storytelling, thought leadership, and proactive outreach.
  • Oversee the development, production, and accuracy of major corporate publications, including the Annual Report, newsletters, and official statements.
  • Ensure brand consistency and compliance across all communication channels.

4. Digital Engagement & Technology Utilisation

  • Use digital platforms, websites, CRM systems, and social media strategically to drive fundraising, promote MAB's brand, and reach new audiences.
  • Ensure accessible digital communication aligned with disability-inclusion standards.

5. Department Leadership & Operations Management

  • Lead and supervise the Fundraising and Communications teams to achieve measurable outcomes through innovation, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Plan and manage departmental budgets, fundraising projections, campaigns, and KPIs.
  • Manage internal coordination on all matters relating to communications, donor relations, campaigns, and partnership development.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and performance-driven workplace culture.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years experience in fundraising, communications, or marketing, with at least 23 years in a managerial or similar leadership role.
  • Strong interpersonal, networking, and partnership-building skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in campaign development, project management, data analysis, and event execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and manage competing priorities with creativity and flexibility.
  • Passion for humanitarian and disability-inclusion work.
  • (Advantage) Experience in Islamic Social Finance (ISF) such as zakat, waqf, or sadaqah-based initiatives.
