  • Review and validate internal Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) escalated by the Operations team, perform necessary amendments and analysis, and make recommendations for approval or dismissal by Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) in accordance with established escalation and approval protocols.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the timely submission of approved STRs to Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) in accordance with applicable regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Collate, prepare, review, and coordinate the timely submission of relevant Financial Crime Compliance regulatory reports, returns, and information requests to BNM and/or other relevant regulatory authorities, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform ongoing analysis of suspicious transaction trends, identify emerging or recurring risk indicators, and recommend appropriate follow-up actions where necessary.
  • Conduct Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) risk assessments, gap assessments, and compliance reviews based on internally established methodologies and key regulatory requirements. Identify compliance gaps in business processes, controls, and workflows, and recommend appropriate remediation measures.
  • Track identified compliance issues, action plans, and remediation progress, and follow up with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely closure or escalation of outstanding matters.
  • Prepare and maintain relevant FCC management information, including trends, key risk indicators, regulatory reporting status, identified issues, and other relevant metrics, where applicable.
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant internal stakeholders to support the development, implementation, and enhancement of FCC-related policies, procedures, controls, and operational processes.
  • Assist in preparing reports, updates, and materials on Financial Crime Compliance matters for Senior Management, relevant committees, and the Board of Directors.
  • Assist in FCC awareness, guidance, or training initiatives for relevant internal stakeholders, where required.
  • Support other Financial Crime Compliance initiatives and perform any other relevant duties as assigned by the Head of Compliance.

Requirements

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or recognised professional qualification appropriate to the role.
  • 1–3 years of relevant working experience in Financial Crime Compliance, regulatory compliance, risk management, or a related field. Experience within the financial services industry will be an advantage.
  • Good understanding of the financial services regulatory environment, particularly in relation to Anti-Money Laundering, Countering Financing of Terrorism and Proliferation Financing (AML/CFT/CPF), Suspicious Transaction Reporting, and Financial Crime Compliance. Relevant professional certification in AML/CFT or Compliance, such as ICA, CAMS, or equivalent, and/or strong practical knowledge and experience in Financial Crime Compliance will be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with good attention to detail and the ability to assess information critically and make sound, well-supported recommendations.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet regulatory and internal deadlines, and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Resourceful, self-driven, adaptable, and able to work independently with appropriate guidance and escalation.
  • Positive and collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across different functions and levels of seniority.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent written and verbal proficiency in English.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive information.
