Position Summary
The Compliance and Product Safety Manager will lead product compliance and machinery safety activities supporting the globalization of manufacturing systems and automation equipment produced in China for international markets. This role will work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, sourcing, quality, legal, external certification bodies, and regional stakeholders to ensure all products meet applicable local and international compliance, machinery safety, and regulatory requirements prior to shipment.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in industrial automation and electrical systems with practical knowledge of machine safety standards, electromechanical systems, and product certification processes across global markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead compliance and product safety activities for industrial automation and metrology systems intended for global markets
- Collaborate with engineering teams and third-party certification organizations to ensure products comply with regional safety and regulatory requirements
- Interpret and apply machinery safety standards and compliance frameworks for international product releases
- Review electrical schematics, safety circuits, control systems, and automation architectures to ensure compliance with applicable standards
- Support machine risk assessments and functional safety evaluations for automation equipment
- Plan, organize, and lead risk assessments in interdisciplinary teams
- Ensure harmonized and consistent safety approaches across product lines
- Develop, review, and approve safety concepts and architectures
- Track and monitor implementation of safety measures throughout development
- Ensure product documentation, technical files, labeling, declarations, and certification records are properly maintained
- Partner with manufacturing and sourcing teams to ensure supplier components and subsystems meet regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with external agencies and certification partners including TÜV, Pilz, and regional authorities
- Provide guidance to engineering teams on machine safety concepts, safety PLC architectures, and compliance best practices
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product safety, compliance governance, and standardization
- Monitor evolving global compliance regulations and communicate impacts to stakeholders
- Support internal training and capability development related to machinery safety and compliance
- Lead cross-functional teams on machinery safety topics
- Provide training and technical guidance to engineering teams
- Act as a mentor and coach to build internal safety competence
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field
- Experience working with industrial machinery, automation systems, or electromechanical equipment
- Strong understanding of the following technologies:
- Safety PLCs
- PLC systems and industrial controls
- Relays, contactors, motors, and electromechanical devices
- Electrical schematics and control panel drawings
- Machine automation architectures
- Risk Assessment and creation of Machine Safety Concepts according to EN ISO 12100 , EN ISO 13849 , EN 62061 , EN ISO 14120 , EN ISO14119 , EN ISO 13855 , EN ISO13857 ,EN 60204-1

- Experience supporting product compliance, machinery safety, or industrial certification activities
- Ability to work cross-functionally with global teams, suppliers, and external certification organizations
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple compliance initiatives in an international manufacturing environment

- Exposure to global regulatory requirements for industrial equipment
- Experience working with third-party certification bodies ( TÜV ,Pilz etc. )
- Professional certifications or training such as:
- CECE – Certified Expert in CE Marking
- CMSE® – Certified Machinery Safety Expert
- FS Engineer (TÜV Rheinland)
- Experience within manufacturing, automation, metrology, robotics, or industrial systems industries
- Experience supporting products manufactured in China and exported globally
- Required languages: English (fluent for technical and professional communication), Chinese (advanced for workplace coordination); additional languages for example German and Italian are a plus.
