Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy compounding laboratory, including prescription processing, inventory management, final product review, and patient counseling.
  • Manage the pharmacy's administrative and operational activities to ensure efficient workflow and service delivery.
  • Perform pharmaceutical calculations and develop, verify, and execute compounding formulations in accordance with established standards and patient-specific requirements.
  • Formulate and compound a wide range of customized dosage forms, including ointments, creams, gels, solutions, suspensions, troches, capsules, sublingual tablets, and suppositories.
  • Develop and maintain Master Formulation Records (MFRs), prescription-specific formulation records, and other required compounding documentation.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date records relating to pharmacy operations, compounding activities, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the compounding laboratory.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure the safety, quality, accuracy, and consistency of compounded preparations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM) laws, regulations, standards, and pharmacy requirements.
  • Supervise and support pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and assistants, including staff training, competency development, performance management, discipline, and productivity.
  • Provide training and guidance to licensed pharmacists and certified pharmacy technicians/assistants involved in compounding activities.
  • Investigate and assist in resolving compounding, formulation, operational, and quality-related issues.
  • Collaborate with inventory management to ensure the continuous availability of medications, active pharmaceutical ingredients, excipients, packaging materials, and other compounding supplies.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory collection centre, ensuring smooth and efficient collection processes.
  • Participate in educational and professional development activities, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced training programs, talks, seminars, symposiums, and other educational initiatives.
  • Provide patient counseling and professional guidance on the appropriate use, administration, storage, and handling of compounded medications.
