Duties and responsibilities
• Lead and manage all on-site construction activities related to Interconnection Facilities (IF), Transmission Line and LILO (Loop In Loop Out) works for utility-scale solar projects.
• Oversee construction of substations, switchyards, transmission towers, line stringing works, protection systems and grid interconnection facilities in compliance with TNB and relevant authority requirements.
• Plan, schedule, coordinate and supervise contractors, subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely completion of grid-related works within approved budget and timeline.
• Ensure all construction activities comply with local regulations, TNB technical requirements, safety standards and approved drawings/specifications.
• Coordinate closely with engineering, protection & control, testing & commissioning and grid compliance teams to ensure smooth energization and synchronization.
• Monitor construction progress, identify risks or delays and implement mitigation measures to achieve targeted energization and COD milestones.
• Manage site resources including manpower, materials, heavy equipment and tools required for transmission line and LILO works.
• Conduct site inspections, quality control checks and ensure adherence to QA/QC procedures and method statements.
• Lead site meetings with TNB, consultants and contractors for technical coordination and issue resolution.
• Prepare and submit progress reports, technical documentation, inspection reports and handover documentation.
• Ensure strict compliance with HSE requirements and drive zero-LTI performance on site.
• Attend pre-construction, technical and coordination meetings as required.
• Perform any other duties assigned by immediate superior from time to time.
Skills and Qualifications
• Minimum 8–12 years of experience in transmission line, substation or grid interconnection construction projects.
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or related field.
• Strong experience in HV/MV systems, substations, protection systems, transmission towers and LILO works.
• Familiar with TNB technical standards, grid code requirements and authority approval processes.
• Strong leadership, contractor management and site coordination skills.
• Good understanding of construction sequencing, method statements and risk assessment for transmission and IF works.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven ability to manage construction schedule, cost control and site documentation.
• Willing to be based at project site and work extended hours to meet project milestones.
• Preferably short notice period to serve.
