Job Summary
The Construction Safety Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering Health, Safety, and Environment (EHS) training programs to support safe execution of data center construction activities on a specific project site. This role ensures that all personnel, including subcontractors, are trained, competent, and compliant with project requirements, local regulations, and High-Risk Activity requirement aligned with BCEI APAC frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Deliver site-specific EHS induction, orientation, and mandatory HRA training for all workers prior to site access.
- Conduct refresher and task-specific training (e.g., working at height, electrical safety, lifting operations, confined space entry, etc.).
- Ensure all personnel meet minimum EHS training and competency requirements before performing work.
- Develop, adapt, and maintain training materials aligned with BCEI EHS standards, project requirements, and local regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with HSE team, construction, and subcontractor teams to identify training needs and gaps.
- Record and maintain all EHS training data within the Datascope system, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and real-time updates.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, field observations, and feedback mechanisms.
- Promote safety awareness through campaigns, toolbox talks, and continuous engagement.
- Provide input into incident investigations, including identification of training gaps and corrective actions.
Talent Profile
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Recognized HSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent local certification).
- Train-the-Trainer or equivalent instructional certification is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of HSE experience, with at least 2–3 years in a training or instructor role within construction projects.
- Experience in data center or large-scale industrial construction projects is preferred.
- Proven experience delivering training to a diverse, multinational workforce.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage workforce on all levels.
- Good understanding of international construction safety standards and best practices.
- Ability to adapt training delivery to different cultures, languages, and learning styles.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, particularly in managing training records and compliance systems.
- Proficient in digital tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, LMS platforms, Datascope System).
- Ability to influence behaviors and promote a positive safety culture on site.
- Willingness to be site-based full-time for the duration of the project.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.
