We are pleased to offer an opportunity for a seasoned professional to join our Finance Division.

About the Role

The Contract Engineer is responsible for managing the full contract lifecycle for drilling operations, including sourcing support, tendering, commercial evaluations, contract administration, vendor performance monitoring, and ensuring contractual compliance for jack-up drilling rig operations. The role supports operational continuity, cost optimization, risk mitigation, and strategic supplier management in alignment with company objectives.

Responsibilities

Contract Management

  • Prepare, review, negotiate, and administer contracts, service agreements, purchase agreements, and amendments for drilling operations.
  • Buying of goods and services
  • Ensure all contracts comply with company policies, legal requirements, HSE standards, and client contractual obligations.
  • Manage end-to-end contract lifecycle from tender issuance to contract close-out.
  • Monitor contract validity, expiration dates, extension options, and key deliverables.

Tendering & Commercial Evaluation

  • Coordinate RFQ/RFP/ITT processes for drilling-related services, equipment, and materials.
  • Conduct commercial evaluations and bid analysis for technical and commercial submissions.
  • Develop cost comparison models, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis, and savings justifications.
  • Lead commercial clarifications and negotiations with suppliers and contractors.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Interface with rig operations, maintenance, engineering, finance, legal, and HSE teams to support operational requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with strategic vendors, OEMs, and service providers.
  • Participate in vendor performance reviews and supplier development initiatives.
  • Support contractor performance monitoring, KPI tracking, and service quality improvement.

Operational Support

  • Support urgent offshore operational requirements and critical procurement activities for jack-up rigs.
  • Ensure timely mobilization of services, manpower, materials, and equipment.
  • Coordinate with logistics and operations teams to minimize rig downtime and operational disruptions.

Commercial & Risk Management

  • Identify contractual and commercial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure proper documentation of claims, variations, back charges, liquidated damages, and contractual disputes.
  • Monitor contract spend against approved budgets and support cost optimization initiatives.
  • Assist in auditing and compliance reviews related to contracts and procurement activities.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate contract records, correspondence, commercial registers, and procurement documentation.
  • Prepare management reports, savings reports, contract status updates, and commercial dashboards.
  • Ensure proper filing and traceability in ERP or contract management systems.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in contracts, procurement, or commercial roles within the oil & gas industry.
  • Prior experience supporting jack-up drilling rigs, offshore drilling operations, or drilling contractors is highly preferred.
  • Experience handling offshore service contracts, equipment agreements, and operational procurement activities.

Technical Knowledge

  • Understanding of offshore drilling operations and jack-up rig environment.
  • Familiarity with Drilling Services Contracts, OEM Agreements, Frame Agreements, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Incoterms.
  • Contractual risk management
  • Knowledge of ERP systems such as Microsoft D365, SAP, Oracle is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
  • Good analytical and cost evaluation capabilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage urgent operational requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and contractual compliance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and contract reporting tools.
  • Good understanding of procurement ethics and governance.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience working in a fast-paced offshore drilling environment.
  • Familiarity with rig critical equipment and services such as Top Drives, BOP Systems, Mud Systems, Jacking Systems, Rig Maintenance Services.
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
