The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is a global, non-profit organisation with voluntary members working to transform the palm oil industry to make it sustainable. We are focused on bringing together stakeholders from across the palm oil supply chain to develop and implement global standards for sustainable palm oil.

Role Description

This is a contract role for a Consultant – Land Use Change Analysis (LUCA). Duties include but will not be limited to the following:

• To review land use change analysis (LUCA) reports submitted for Remediation and Compensation Procedure (RaCP) and New Planting Procedure (NPP).

• To analyse land use change for smallholders in the context of RSPO Remediation and Compensation Procedure (RaCP) and provide an analysis report.

• To maintain geospatial database under the RSPO scheme, which includes, but not limited to RSPO member concession boundaries, certified area, certified mills, High Conservation Value (HCV) area, peat area, New Planting Area, and other auxiliary map layers within RSPO scheme. Maintenance of the database shall be according to the Integrity Master database guideline, as well as the Formatting Requirements for Plantation Boundary Data Submission Guideline.

This is a hybrid role located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia or Jakarta, Indonesia, with occasional attendance at the RSPO office if required or other mutually agreed premises. 

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in geospatial analysis, remote sensing, and GIS software
  • Demonstrated experience in remote sensing, satellite image processing, and land use change analysis is a must.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and geospatial databases
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of sustainability and environmental issues
  • Experience in the palm oil industry and HCV- HCS approaches is a plus
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Remote Sensing, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Geography, or related field
