Job Description

Role Synopsis

The Contract Operationalisation & Maintenance Senior Analyst is responsible for leading and delivering BP's contract management activities within Procurement, ensuring strong compliance, process excellence and standardisation across the contract lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities Include

Leading contract management planning and execution aligned to BP's policies, including the Contract Management Guidelines and Category Management Policy (CMP).

Driving process improvement, standardisation and digitalisation initiatives for contract management.

Partnering with business units and service delivery teams to drive consistent, simple and standardised contract implementation.

Supporting initiatives to mitigate contractual risk, including value leakage prevention and contract assurance.

Developing contract management capability and strengthening practitioner competency across the organisation.

The role collaborates closely with Technology Procurement Teams, Sourcing & Contracting, Procurement Contract Partners, Legal, and other SMEs to ensure guideline and optimal contract outcomes.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong practical experience in contract management, procurement, and sourcing, ideally within the energy sector.

Key Accountabilities

General

  • Manage and maintain contract management policies, procedures, and templates.
  • Lead contract management activities including contract assurance, audits, expiries, and closeouts.
  • Drive continuous change and adoption of new processes or ways of working in collaboration with SMEs and partners.

Process Standardisation

  • Drive harmonisation of contract management processes across Procurement Sourcing & Contracting.
  • Integrate contract management processes with broader S2C processes for endtoend optimisation.
  • Work with process owners, service delivery teams and SMEs to update and standardise methodologies, templates, and guidelines.
  • Maintain a central repository for contract management knowledge, ensuring effective communication to practitioners.

Process Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Engage partners to identify priorities and opportunities for process enhancement, simplification, and standardisation.
  • Analyse business needs and support contract management transformation or digitalisation projects.

Essential Education

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance, Commerce or related field.
  • MCIPS/ISM qualification (or prequalification stage) is desirable.

Experience

Essential Experience & Job Requirements

  • Minimum 4+ years experience in Contracting & Procurement within the energy sector (Upstream, Downstream, Digital & IT, Indirect, Workplace, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of sourcing and contracting processes, including drafting, assurance, review, and closeout.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management activities (e.g., Counterparty Due Diligence, AntiBribery & Corruption certification, contract audits).
  • Experience with change management and continuous improvement methodologies.

Other Requirements

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Able to work Europe/UK shift hours.
  • Strong communication and partner management skills across varying levels.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and crossfunctional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent problemsolving, analytical and criticalthinking ability.
  • Flexibility to join occasional calls outside standard business hours.
  • Strong time management and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Commercially and contractually riskaverse attitude.
  • Experience working in virtual/remote teams.
  • Familiarity with Agile Ways of Working.

Desirable Criteria

  • Proven experience managing endtoend contracts.
  • Strong commercial foresight with understanding of contractual obligations and risk management.
  • Experience using Ariba, Compass or other ERP systems.
  • Experience building or using dashboards (e.g., Power BI).
