Let Me Tell You About The Role

T&S implements trades with external supply customers globally. The role of the T&S Contracts Team is to perform day-to-day control and administration of physical and low carbon trading contracts, tenders and general terms and conditions. This requires practical and application experience in contracting of commodities, extensive knowledge and understanding of contracts and legal terms, contracting strategy preparation, coupled with a strong commercial orientation and communication skills. Contracts can be high in value and with complex terms and conditions, requiring efficient problem-solving skills. The Contracts Lead Analyst will be the key liaison with third parties, traders, marketers, originators, legal and other key partners as appropriate in order to fulfil the responsibilities.

What You Will Deliver

Team Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Provide guidance, support, training and mentoring to Contracts team members.
  • Work with the Team Lead/Manager to identify key partners, build effective relationships and maintain strong customer focus.
  • Ensure a consistently high level of professionalism, technical expertise and service delivery across the team.

Contract Management and Execution

  • Supervise and monitor controls relating to the creation of contracts for trading transactions and the management of electronic confirmation matching processes and systems.
  • Be accountable for the accurate preparation of complex deal contracts, ensuring timely execution and liaising with Legal, Regional Contracts and other partners as required.
  • Ensure incoming contracts are reviewed and matched accurately, with timely responses or escalation of issues relating to compliance, commercial or credit exposure.

Performance, Process Improvement and Projects

  • Understand the team's business performance expectations and be accountable for measuring and reporting Key performance indicators within the area of responsibility.
  • Develop new and innovative approaches where structured frameworks or standard contracts are not applicable and improve the efficiency of Contracts-related processes.
  • Lead or participate in projects as appropriate.

Controls, Compliance and Assurance

  • Understand the importance of controls and the obligation to report control deficiencies, including fraud, potential control failures and failures of internal controls relevant to the Control Process.
  • Apply a detailed understanding of business/function internal controls by translating the Control Framework, internal control policies, standards and associated procedures at team level.
  • Handle deviations and exceptions, escalating significant control breakdowns and any incipient or improper accounting as required.
  • Ensure all SNOW sub-process control requirements are met and actioned appropriately.
  • Ensure processes are clearly documented, maintained and understood by team members.
  • Support Trading and Shipping audit and data retention requirements.

What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)

  • Degree in Legal Studies or a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification, with at least five years relevant corporate experience, including a minimum of two years in a Contracts Analyst role and/or energy trading environment.
  • Strong expertise in global contract drafting, negotiation, execution and management.
  • Good understanding of commodity trading and the oil and gas industry.
  • Familiarity with Incoterms and shipping terminology.
