Job Description

Location:Kuala Lumpur OR Bukit Mertajam (We're open for both locations!)

Terms:1-year contract with the possibility of contract renewal

Salary:RM3,300 - 3,700

Arus Academy is an education social enterprise specialising in creating high-quality education solutions for students and teachers in Malaysia.Arus is constantly searching for ways to make education more accessible and impactful through systemic and ground-up approaches. We advocate for five main literacy areas, which are STEAM education, financial literacy, media and information literacy, social and emotional learning, and global citizenship education.In our mission to empower today's problem solvers, we have been running year-long school programmes with students from Buku Jalanan Chow Kit.

This role will support creative content creation and management for Arus Academy.

Responsibilities:

Effective communicator and educator through various Social Media platforms.At Arus, we believe that every member, regardless of role, should embody the spirit of an educator. This entails a commitment to ongoing learning and effective teaching of knowledge to others.

  • Support the development and implementation of a marketing communications planincluding strategy, goals, budget and tactics to reach out to diverse audiences. Strengthen Arus brand identity as a thought leader in the education field through meaningful content creation via all types of media and meaningful partnerships with external organisations.
  • Feature student voices through a compelling storytelling structure and consistent digital presence.Design and develop stimulating and engaging social media posts and articles for both in-person and online output. This task may involve writing creative content such as learning modules, newsletters, articles, and websites including effective use of images, videos and graphics as well as presenting on social media. The delivery of this task requires organising the materials logically and effectively.
  • Connect and engage friends of Arus to build a strong network of support for Arus programmes.
  • Create and manage social media contentby analysing data from different platforms and adapting strategies to fit each one. Plan content delivery to promote educational and social issues suitable to the target audience
  • Monitor engagement progressthrough collecting, cleaning and analysing data through analytical tools like Google Analytics and social media insights. Make data-driven decisions when strategising for content development and social media management.
  • Model REACH (Respect, Efficient, Adventurous, Collaborative, Honest) valuestoward others through personal leadership and accountability. Update your progress regularly and communicate clearly to work efficiently and collaborate proactively.

Skilful Creative Content Creator.A skilled content creator adds value to the team by mastering key graphic and video editing tools. This helps the team work together smoothly and ensures their content is dynamic, clear, and impactful.

  • Research, plan, strategise and reviewcontent planning to maximise outreach through various social media platforms.
  • Plan before shootingby planning the storyline and animatics, and writing scripts. Assess, research, and develop mind-stimulating ideas into storyboards. Pre-plan transition, lower thirds design, and sound effects.
  • Manage, use, and maintain shooting equipmentto ensure proper use, documentation and maintenance of equipment. Operate the camera to film from different angles based on the shooting requirements.
  • Manage and organise media filesthrough filtering, selecting, labelling and finalising multiple good footages and putting them in a sequence/timeline in Adobe Premiere Pro before editing video. Cut the final footage and assemble the A-roll and B-roll in the main timeline. Keep all files in the right Google Drive.
  • Balance basic composition and lighting totake quality photographsthat capture the moment. Touch up photos that were taken in Raw and submit them to the project team on the same event day.
  • Create, edit and guide others to create engaging and exciting videos using toolslike Capcut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, and/or Adobe After Effects.
  • Conduct post-productionquality checks on social media poststo avoid double work after shooting. Use the volume detector to detect the peak and balance between background music and audio. Use colour correction to balance between white balance, contrast, and warm and cold colour. Double-check and proofread subtitles.
  • Create high-quality graphicsby adopting conceptual thinking and storyboarding. Use graphic editing tools like Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Lightroom to fine-tune, illustrate, and develop graphics. Whenever necessary, create print design files suitable for CMYK printing based on the printer's needs.
  • Co-create branding kit and quality check on branding alignmentto ensure brand cohesiveness throughout all design templates, and final outputs.
  • Collaborate with subject matter expertsto ensure accuracy and relevance of content.Collaborate with other teams and departmentsto ensure creative content captures the essence of the project mission and vision. Use shared project management plans to ensure clear communication.

  • Consistency of the community building effort.
  • Amount of funds raised.

Expected skills:

Competency in one of the following graphic design software:

  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Canva
  • Any other photo editing softwares that are comparable to the listed softwares

Competency in one of the following video editing software:

  • Adobe Premiere
  • Capcut
  • Any other video editing software that is comparable to the listed software

Graphic design and video editing skills

Able to design visually pleasing social media content.

Strong communication skills, both written and oral

Able to quickly and easily express oneself in a way that's also easy for netizens to comprehend.
