Join QL Group as Cybersecurity Intern and work alongside experienced professionals to develop practical IT skills. In this role, you will help to support the Group IT Cybersecurity & Risk team in day-to-day cybersecurity operations, including monitoring security alerts, endpoint security, user access reviews, vulnerability assessments, patch management, and operational reporting.
What will you learn and do
- Review and follow up on SOC and EDR security alerts.
- Monitor endpoint security coverage, configuration issues, and remediation status.
- Support periodic User Access Reviews (UAR) and track access removal or modification.
- Conduct authorised vulnerability scans and tracking findings until closure.
- Monitor patching status and follow up on missing, failed, or overdue patches.
- Track and follow up on security configuration gaps, exceptions, and remediation actions.
- Maintain cybersecurity operational trackers and supporting evidence.
- Prepare regular reports on alerts, vulnerabilities, patching, endpoint security, and access reviews.
- Monitor relevant cybersecurity advisories and escalate potential risks.
- Maintain cybersecurity policies, risk registers, compliance records, and remediation action plans.
- Track and follow up on outstanding actions and supporting evidence.
- Support other cybersecurity operational activities assigned by the manager.
What you will need to have:
- Currently pursuing Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Security, or other related disciplines
- Have basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts, IT risk management, networking, or information security standards
- Good written and verbal communication skill
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Able to maintain confidentiality and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 security tools, vulnerability assessment, data analysis, or security awareness activities would be added advantage
- Possess own transport and able to be based at our HQ in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam
