The Team: This dynamic team within Private Markets Data Operations in Malaysia is dedicated to
fostering the growth of early-career professionals in Private Equity data.
We value meticulous attention to detail, analytical prowess, and a proactive approach to developing expertise in financial data, fund structures, and automation. The team plays a critical role in collecting, analyzing, validating, and maintaining high-quality datasets that underpin global client decision-making and benchmarking.
This role offers the opportunity to build deep expertise and directly contribute to the accuracy and timeliness of market-leading data.
Responsibilities And Impact
- Process, analyze, and validate financial documents (e.g., capital calls, distributions, financial statements) received from General/Limited Partners in Private Equity and alternative investment contexts.
- Extract, standardize, and classify critical data items from complex Private Equity documents, ensuring rigorous adherence to defined data standards and accurate metadata tagging.
- Execute thorough data quality checks, resolve exceptions through manual QC reviews and automated validation logs, and maintain optimal accuracy and consistency across datasets.
- Contribute to process improvement, Lean initiatives, and automation efforts, utilizing basic SQL-driven data tasks to enhance operational efficiency and apply solutions to identified problems.
- Conduct routine reporting and basic trend analysis to generate operational insights and maintain clear, auditable documentation of data collection and validation processes.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to deliver on individual and collective targets, demonstrating a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
- All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
What We're Looking For
Basic Required Qualifications:
- An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 0-1+ years of experience in Fund Administration, Private Equity Operations, or Financial Data Processing.
- Postgraduate degree in Finance, Data Analytics, or a related field (e.g., MBA (Finance), PGDM), coupled with a strong analytical mindset and keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic knowledge of SQL/Python; familiarity with BI tools is considered an advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, demonstrating the ability to convey information clearly and effectively, along with strong problem-solving abilities.
- We require all external candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of Private Equity, Real Estate, or Alternative Investment operations, including fund accounting and investor reporting concepts, is highly preferred.
- Demonstrates effective collaboration with colleagues to achieve common goals, actively listens to understand other perspectives, and integrates complex information within their specialization.
- Possesses the ability to identify areas for process improvement, propose creative solutions to day-to-day problems, and connect their work to broader systems and processes.
- Maintains a proactive attitude with a willingness to learn, ask questions, and continuously improve, while effectively managing time and meeting deadlines.
