About the Role
As the Assistant Data Center Infrastructure Operations Manager (B), you will be the key backup to the Operations Manager, fully mastering data center operations. You will assist in formulating and implementing O&M strategies, and independently take over all operational responsibilities when needed to ensure the reliability, efficiency and compliance of critical infrastructure. Proficiency in Chinese, English and Malay is required to support cross-regional and local coordination.
Responsibilities
- Assist the manager in formulating and implementing O&M plans, schedules and procedures, ensuring alignment with business objectives and client SLAs.
- Assist in overseeing 24/7 operation and maintenance of critical systems (HV/LV power, HVAC, BMS, fire safety, physical security) and independently handle daily tasks and emergencies in the manager's absence.
- Assist in monitoring system performance, conducting incident root cause analysis and participating in continuous improvement (e.g., PUE optimization).
- Assist in ensuring compliance with Malaysian local regulations, safety standards and client agreements, and support risk assessment and audit readiness.
- Assist in coordinating cross-functional teams for system integration, commissioning and retrofit projects, and independently follow up on progress when required.
- Assist in mentoring the O&M team, organizing technical training and drills, and independently conducting training if needed.
- Assist in managing O&M budget and spare parts inventory, and control operational expenditures.
- Act as auxiliary contact for operational reporting and client communication, using three languages proficiently for smooth information transmission.
- Serve as B to take over the manager's responsibilities timely during their absence to ensure stable data center operation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field; advanced certifications (CDCP, CDCS, PMP) are a plus.
- 3-5 years of IDC infrastructure O&M experience, with 1-2 years in supervisory/assistant leadership role and experience in independent task takeover.
- In-depth knowledge of data center critical systems (HT/LT power, UPS, generators, chillers, BMS, DCIM) and ability to handle routine maintenance and simple faults independently.
- Experience in 10KV/11KV electrical system operation and maintenance is preferred.
- Experience in data center optimization/renovation projects and ability to assist or independently follow up on implementation.
- Strong auxiliary leadership, sense of responsibility and emergency response capability; able to assist in team building and safety culture cultivation.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Mandatory proficiency in written and spoken Chinese, English and Malay, able to complete communication and reporting tasks smoothly.
- Strong learning ability and adaptability to fast-paced work.
