Overview
The Data Center Operations Manager oversees the end-to-end operational health, security, and efficiency of the data center environment. This role ensures high availability of infrastructure services, effective team leadership, and strong alignment with organizational standards and technology roadmaps. The manager also drives continuous improvements across processes, capacity planning, and resource optimization to support business growth. You will be based in Johor to manage the DC operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage day to day operations of data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, network equipment, power distribution, and cooling systems.
- Ensure uptime, reliability, and compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and develop a team of data center engineers, setting performance goals, providing coaching, and managing workloads.
- Oversee vendor relationships for hardware maintenance, facility services, and third-party support, ensuring SLAs are met.
- Drive incident management processes, including escalation, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and post incident reviews.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity readiness, including regular drills and documentation updates.
- Track capacity usage trends and plan for resource expansion, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
- Optimize operational costs, energy consumption, and resource utilization through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate documentation for infrastructure, floor plans, cabling, and operational procedures.
- Implement monitoring, automation, and analytics tools to enhance operational visibility and efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or equivalent field.
- 810 years of experience in data center operations, infrastructure support, or facility management.
- Strong technical understanding of servers, storage, networking, virtualization, and data center facilities.
- Experience managing power systems, cooling, and environmental controls in mission critical environments.
- Familiarity with disaster recovery frameworks, backup solutions, and resilience planning.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams and operational workloads.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Professional certifications such as ITIL, CDCP/CDCS, PMP (advantageous).
- Experience working in cloud or hybrid data center architectures.
- Exposure to automation platforms, monitoring systems, and operational toolsets.
