Overview:
We'relookingforadedicatedDataCenterOperatortojoinourComputerOperationsteam.ThiscrucialroleisresponsibleforthetimelyandaccurateexecutionofautomatedbatchprocessingandscheduledjobsontheIBMi(AS/400)system.Youwillbekeyinmonitoringbatchprocessingflows,managingsystembackups,andensuringtheintegrityofproductiondata.TheOperatormustmaintainoperationalefficiency,meetcriticalServiceLevelAgreements(SLAs),andsupport24/7operationsthrougharotatingshiftschedule.
Responsibilities:
- Performday-to-daycomputeroperationsandexecuteEnd-Of-Day(EOD)batchprocessingasperschedulesandchecklists.
- Ensureadherencetothebatchprocessingscheduleandmeetagreed-uponservicelevels.
- Providesupport,includingreportspoolingandre-spoolingEODreportsuponrequest.
- MonitorsystemactivityandEODbatchflowsforanyabnormalities.
- Proactivelymonitorthesystemconsoleforprocessingissuesandjobstatusmessages.
- Performfirst-leveltroubleshootingtodiagnoseerrorsandtakecorrectiveactionaccordingtodocumentedprocedures.
- Restartfailedjobsfollowingstrictrestartprocedures.
- Notify/escalateabnormalitiestotheShiftLeaderorrespectivetechnicalsupportteams
- Executeallscheduledbackups(daily,weekly,monthly)usingtoolslikeBRMS.
- Verifybackuplogs,ensuresuccessfulcompletion,andpreparemediaforoffsitestorage.
- Initializecartridgesfordailybatchbackuppurposes.
- Adheretosystemsecurityguidelines.
- Maintainaccuratelogsofallbatchoperationsandincidents.
- Generateanddistributereportsonjobcompletionstatusandexceptions.
- Performresponsibilitiesduringarotatingshiftscheduletosupport24/7operations
Skills&ExperienceWeAreLookingFor:
- Degree in any field, is preferred, but relevant experience in a data center or IT operations environment will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- 1yearsofexperienceinadatacenterorIToperationsenvironmentwithsignificantexposuretoIBMi(AS/400)batchprocessingisbeneficial.
- Experiencewithotheroperatingsystems(e.g.,Windows,Linux)andcross-platformschedulingisbeneficial.
- Experiencewithautomationtools(CtrlM,Stonebranch)isanaddedadvantage.
- SolidunderstandingofbatchprocessingconceptsandtheAS/400operatingenvironment.
- ExperiencewithbackuptoolslikeBRMSishighlypreferred.
- Exceptionalattentiontodetailandstrongorganizationalskills.
- Provenabilitytotroubleshootandproblem-solveinatime-sensitiveenvironment.
- Excellentcommunicationskillsforescalatingissuesanddocumentingprocedures.
- Areliableworkethic,withtheabilitytomaintaincomposureunderstressfulconditions.
