Shift Mechanical Engineer

Job Scope:Operates and maintains all mechanical systems critical to data centre cooling and environmental control. Manages chilled water systems including chillers, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, and associated piping networks. Monitors and optimizes HVAC systems, computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units, computer room air handling (CRAH) units, and precision cooling equipment. Conducts regular inspections of mechanical equipment, identifying wear patterns, unusual vibrations, leaks, or performance degradation. Performs preventive maintenance tasks including filter changes, belt inspections, bearing lubrication, and alignment checks. Monitors and maintains optimal temperature and humidity levels throughout the data centre environment. Analyzes cooling system efficiency and recommends optimization strategies for energy conservation. Responds to mechanical alarms, diagnoses equipment failures, and implements corrective actions. Maintains water treatment programs for cooling systems to prevent corrosion and biological growth. Coordinates with vendors for specialized maintenance, repairs, and equipment servicing. Documents all maintenance activities, equipment performance data, and system parameters. Participates in commissioning and testing of new mechanical installations. Ensures compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in mechanical systems maintenance, preferably in data centres or critical environments
• Strong knowledge of chilled water systems, HVAC, and precision cooling technologies
• Understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer principles
• Proficiency with mechanical maintenance tools and diagnostic equipment
• Experience with vibration analysis, thermal imaging, and performance monitoring
• Knowledge of water treatment chemistry and cooling tower operations
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Willingness to work shifts and respond to emergency situations
