As the
Database Administrator you will provides day to day Level 2 operations support for JM's Global Database infrastructure and supports activities that requires database support through the use of database performance analysis tools, such as SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer (DPA).
Your goal / purpose will be to hold responsibility for the operations of the service and the technologies supporting these services, to include install/deploy, maintain and upgrade services and the technologies supporting these services in line with JM IT's established tools and standards. Your success will contribute to maintaining the reliability and performance of the JM IT services and the technologies supporting these services.
We have recently launched our 24-hour Global Operations Centre in Kuala Lumpur. This new team of engineers work in shifts to deliver the operational management and performance of key JM infrastructure, network, client and security technologies, providing fantastic service to 10,000 employees in over 40 countries across the world.
Your responsibilities:
- To provide implementation and technical support; including planning, installation, ongoing management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and decommissioning, following operational policies and processes that are compliant with JM IT's standards.
- To analyse, troubleshoot and implement approved and standardized resolutions.
- To monitor environments; respond to service requests, incidents, change requests, and problem management.
- To troubleshoot incidents and problems as reported by users and maintain a secure systems environment.
- To adhere to and execute the approved BCP/DR process.
- To support L3 teams in updating documentations and keep it up to date in line with JM standards and policies.
- To be involved in knowledge-sharing through formal documentation and communications sessions.
- To act in accordance to the company's Policies, Standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- As a member of the global JM IT community, to be a champion of the function's values and culture while demonstrating and openly encouraging the behaviours expected from a professional, best in-class IT team.
- To carry out any other duties within one's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
Requirements for the role:
- Significant operational experience in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database in a Level 2 role providing day to day operational support.
- 3-5 years technical experience, Azure SQL environments, Powershell
VMware, Server, Network, Firewall, Server, Backup (native/Veeam), Restore, DR, Security is highly desirable, excellent communication skills
- Critical Thinking ability in resolving technical issues,
- Working knowledge of planning, installation, on-going management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of IT services and technologies.
- Proficiency in customer service aspect of technology delivery required.
- Good understanding of importance of process compliance and standardization.
- Awareness of ITIL principles.
- Certifications and other types of qualifications within the domain and technologies stated above are desired.
