Role Summary
We are looking for a skilled Database Administrator on behalf of our client to manage, optimize, and safeguard mission-critical databases. The role involves administering SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and cloud-based databases, ensuring high availability, performance tuning, disaster recovery, and compliance with security standards. Youll collaborate closely with developers and infrastructure teams, support automation initiatives, and help scale our systems to meet growing business needs.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Administer and manage SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and cloud-native databases.
- Install, configure, and upgrade database servers and related tools.
- Monitor and optimize database performance; proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks.
- Perform regular backups, restorations, and disaster recovery planning.
- Implement and maintain replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions.
- Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.
- Plan for scalability and future capacity needs.
- Apply patches, service packs, and version upgrades with minimal downtime.
- Support developers with database design, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate documentation for configurations, processes, and policies.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy regulations.
- Provide 24x7 on-call support for critical production systems when required.
What I Am Looking For:
- Strong hands-on experience in SQL Server and PostgreSQL administration.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Familiarity with both Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Ability to monitor overall system performance, availability, and capacity, including troubleshooting infrastructure issues.
- Experience in automation for provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance tasks.
- Understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, etc.).
- Exposure to AWS cloud infrastructure (compute, networking, and storage).
- Skills in patch management, updates, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Ability to collaborate with security teams on hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance.
