Responsibilities:

Formulate strategies for the growth of the Faculty. To be accountable for the overall management, budget and profitability of the Faculty. To develop strategies for student recruitment, retention and achievement.

1. Management of curriculum and pastoral care

• Responsible for quality assurance and maintain academic standards of all programmes within the faculty and plan programme structures, academic calendars and academic manpower development for the Faculty and to ensure these are achieved.

• Ensure existing programmes are current with regular curriculum review.

• Ensure that staff provide adequate pastoral care to students and ensure that the University provides a conducive environment for students and monitor closely the attrition and graduation on time of students, and take necessary remedial actions to prevent it.

2. Management of academic staff and resources

• Monitor the overall performance of the academic team to ensure that the academic staff carry out their responsibilities effectively and provide guidance in the improvement of their responsibilities.

• Review students feedback on the services provided and to take corrective action where necessary. To hold regular meetings and dialogue sessions with academic staff and students to ensure effective communication of policies and relevant information.

3. Academic and Business Development

• Participate in course or product development with Industry.

• To have periodic SWOT analyses.

Requirements:

• Possess PhD in relevant areas with at least 10 years working experience in academia of which at least 3 years holding an academic leadership position.

• Demonstrated high level academic and/or professional leadership experience.

• Highly developed interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Strong analytical, problem solving and administrative skills especially in curriculum planning /development and implementation.

• Excellent skills in the strategic management and planning of finances, staff and resources.

• Ability to define problems and provide valid conclusions to solve problems and plan initiatives.

• Ability to work professionally and cooperatively with others in a team environment consisting of academic and admin support staff.

• Experience in student management.

• Ability to manage a number of competing demands.
