Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Dean of Faculty – Information Technology & Artificial Intelligence to provide strategic leadership, academic excellence, and industry engagement for the Faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the growth and development of IT and AI academic programs, strengthening research initiatives, ensuring academic quality, and fostering strong partnerships with industry and government stakeholders.
The Dean will lead faculty members, oversee curriculum development, promote innovation in teaching and learning, and position the institution as a leading provider of technology and AI education in Malaysia.
Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Leadership
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence.
- Oversee the design, review, and continuous improvement of undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
- Ensure academic programs remain aligned with industry trends, emerging technologies, and accreditation requirements.
- Drive innovation in teaching, learning, and digital education initiatives.
Faculty Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop academic staff to achieve excellence in teaching, research, and professional development.
- Manage faculty performance, workload planning, recruitment, and succession planning.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance academic culture.
Research & Innovation
- Promote research activities in Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, Software Engineering, and related disciplines.
- Encourage publication in reputable journals and participation in research grants.
- Establish research collaborations with universities, industries, and government agencies.
Industry & Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop strategic partnerships with technology companies, government agencies, and professional bodies.
- Strengthen industry engagement through internships, industrial collaborations, advisory panels, and joint projects.
- Represent the institution at academic, industry, and governmental forums.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian higher education regulations, MQA standards, and accreditation requirements.
- Monitor academic quality, student outcomes, and faculty performance indicators.
- Lead faculty audits, accreditation exercises, and quality assurance initiatives.
Student Development
- Enhance student employability through industry-oriented curriculum and experiential learning opportunities.
- Support student engagement, innovation projects, competitions, and entrepreneurship initiatives.
- Promote a positive learning environment that encourages academic success and personal growth.
Strategic Planning & Operations
- Develop and implement faculty strategic plans, budgets, and annual objectives.
- Monitor faculty KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to the institution's overall strategic goals and growth plans.
Requirements Education
- PhD in Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certifications in AI, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, or related disciplines will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 10–15 years of academic and leadership experience in higher education.
- Proven experience in managing academic faculties, departments, or schools.
- Strong background in Information Technology and/or Artificial Intelligence disciplines.
- Experience in curriculum development, accreditation processes, and academic quality assurance.
- Track record of research publications, grant acquisition, and academic leadership.
- Experience engaging with industry partners and external stakeholders.
