Scope

The individual will perform a range of experience studies to support the company's growth and risk management strategies. The position works under the Experience Studies team in Actuarial Office supporting regional and local business initiatives including expense, Balanced Scorecard (BSC), Retirement Gratuity Benefit (RGB) and High Producers Fringe Benefit (HPFB) studies.

The individual will perform but not limited to the following:

  • To perform time survey across various functions and departments in the company in conducting Expense Study with segregation by Health and non-Health.
  • To perform monthly expense monitoring to identify driver of expense variance
  • To perform annual studies covering Balanced Scorecard (BSC), Agency's Retirement Gratuity Benefit (RGB) and High Producers Fringe Benefit (HPFB).
  • To work closely with the business and operation teams (ie. finance, agency, marketing, etc.) to understand business requirements and to formulate an analytical work plan based on the stated objectives
  • Execute the analytical work plan end-to-end from producing data requirements, extracting data to completing the analysis and presenting the results/analytic insights to business user
  • Develop deep understanding of operational and business data and continuously improve existing workflow
  • To support other ad-hoc studies and projects.

Requirements

  • Degree in Actuarial Science or other quantitative discipline
  • Preferred to have passed at least 4 professional actuarial examinations
  • Knowledge in Prophet, DCS and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerBI).
  • 4+ years experience in actuarial field
  • Coding knowledge and experience in SQL, R, Python, SAS and/or other open source big data languages with life insurance or general insurance or financial services knowledge a plus
  • Curious, self-driven, independent, great attention to details, problem solver and work well with others
  • Good spoken/written communication skill
