We are looking for a Design Engineer (Civil & Structural) to provide technical support for project execution by preparing and reviewing engineering proposals, drawings, and calculations to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements. This role will work closely with the Project, Construction, Procurement, and Business Development teams to ensure design accuracy and smooth project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Design & Technical Review
- Prepare and review shop drawings, technical proposals, and design calculation reports to ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
- Review contractor and vendor drawings or proposals and provide technical comments in accordance with authority requirements and relevant local/international standards.
- Provide technical advice and engineering support to the project team throughout project execution.
Project & Construction Support
- Assist the project and construction teams with technical advice related to design, engineering, and installation.
- Provide technical support during project execution, including witnessing testing and commissioning activities.
- Evaluate contractor performance in terms of design compliance and installation quality as part of quality control.
Stakeholder & Authority Coordination
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and relevant authorities for design approvals and technical compliance.
- Ensure designs comply with authority requirements and industry standards, and propose solutions where necessary.
Procurement & Vendor Support
- Support procurement activities by conducting technical evaluations during vendor or contractor selection.
- Work with procurement teams to liaise with new and existing suppliers for product updates, pricing, and services.
Business Development Support
- Assist the Business Development team in tender and proposal submissions.
- Participate in site surveys and prepare technical documents for tender submissions.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with internal teams to obtain feedback on design and costing for continuous improvement.
- Provide engineering support to regional teams and operations teams when required.
Qualifications/Requirements
Academic Qualification
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of working experience in Civil & Structural engineering or related industry.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience in applying design requirements to practical engineering solutions.
Technical Skills
- Familiar with AutoCAD.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and PDF tools.
- Understanding of engineering drawings, design standards, and construction practices.
Soft Skills
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and coordination abilities.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Working Environment
- 70% office-based work and 30% site-based work depending on project requirements.
