The organization works closely with customers, suppliers, and regional technical teams to deliver customised engineering solutions across complex project environments.
Role Overview:
The Project Engineer will be responsible for supporting end-to-end project execution from technical handover, engineering design, layout development, documentation, installation coordination, and commissioning support. This role requires a hands-on engineering professional with strong project coordination capability, practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage technical deliverables across multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project contracts and technical scope with the Sales team during project handover, including scope of supply, delivery schedule, commercial terms, warranty, and key project expectations.
- Review and assess project layouts based on customer requirements, site conditions, technical feasibility, and project execution needs.
- Provide practical engineering advice to customers on project layout, equipment arrangement, foundation requirements, utility connections, and installation considerations.
- Prepare project layout designs, foundation drawings, equipment layout drawings, ducting layouts, piping drawings, and other project-related technical drawings.
- Perform pipe and duct sizing, utility consumption estimation, and engineering calculations related to compressed air, steam, water, and other project utilities.
- Develop 2D P&ID process diagrams and extract relevant motor and instrument lists to support electrical panel and control system requirements.
- Coordinate with Production Planner on project order planning to ensure equipment readiness, material availability, and alignment with project delivery schedules.
- Provide regular engineering progress updates to the Project Manager to support project planning, execution tracking, and stakeholder coordination.
- Identify technical risks in engineering deliverables and highlight potential schedule, cost, installation, or commissioning impacts to support project risk management.
- Coordinate technical drawing reviews and progress meetings with customers to resolve design comments, clarify requirements, and secure drawing approvals.
- Liaise with customers, third-party suppliers, internal entities, and product centers to coordinate equipment specifications, delivery requirements, and technical inputs.
- Work closely with the documentation team to prepare instruction manuals, technical records, test reports, drawings, and customer handover documentation.
- Arrange and support installation and commissioning activities at customer sites, ensuring technical readiness, site coordination, and proper execution follow-through.
- Prepare Take Over Certificate documentation and support project closure activities upon completion of installation and commissioning.
- Maintain proper project documentation, including version control, drawing records, technical reports, test documents, and project correspondence.
- Undertake additional technical and project-related responsibilities assigned by the Project Manager to support overall project delivery.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in project engineering, project execution, equipment layout design, industrial engineering projects, or technical project coordination.
- Hands-on experience across engineering design, installation, commissioning, project documentation, and customer coordination.
- Strong understanding of technical drawings, equipment layouts, foundation drawings, piping drawings, ducting layouts, and P&ID diagrams.
- Able to perform engineering calculations, utility estimation, sizing, and practical technical assessment related to project execution.
- Good coordination skills with customers, suppliers, contractors, internal engineering teams, production planning, and project management stakeholders.
- Strong practical problem-solving ability in project environments, especially during design clarification, site coordination, installation, and commissioning phases.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Able to communicate with vendors and clients in China will be an added advantage.
- Willing to travel for project meetings, site coordination, installation, and commissioning support.
