Role Description The Design Engineering Intern role is a full-time, on-site position based in Kapar. The intern will support the design engineering team in developing and refining store fixture concepts, preparing detailed drawings, and assisting in product design activities. Day-to-day tasks include working with computer-aided design (CAD) tools, performing basic mechanical and electrical design calculations, collaborating with engineers and production teams, and ensuring designs meet functional, safety, and manufacturability requirements. The intern will help document design specifications, participate in design reviews, and assist in prototype evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers exposure to large-scale retail fixture projects and the opportunity to learn from experienced engineering and manufacturing professionals.

Qualifications

  • Foundational knowledge and interest in Design Engineering and Product Design, with the ability to support the creation and refinement of store fixture solutions.
  • Basic understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles, including materials, structural behavior, and manufacturing processes relevant to fixtures.
  • Competence in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) to produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings and models.
  • Exposure to or interest in Electrical Engineering concepts, such as lighting integration and power requirements in retail fixtures.
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a diploma or degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Design, Industrial, or related field).
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow design standards, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams on-site.
  • Proactive mindset, good time management, and readiness to handle multiple tasks and project timelines.
  • Internship duration 6 months and above
