Job Description

Job Role: DevOps Integration Engineer (Microsoft Azure Services) 

Employer: Water and sewerage services company in the UK (Wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysian company)

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 

Job Type: 12 months contract (Extendable/Renewable based on performance/requirements) 

Working Mode: Hybrid (follow UK time) 

Experience: Minimum 7–10 years of hands‑on experience in enterprise software development and integration engineering, including at least 4 years designing, building, deploying, and supporting Azure‑based integration platforms in production environments. 

JOB PURPOSE 

The role of DevOps Integration Engineer acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the Software Development team, with a specific focus on integration processes and technologies. 

The role is responsible for advising on and providing guidance for integration approaches from the inception of projects, promoting and enforcing best practices in integration development, monitoring, automated deployment, and production support using appropriate tools and technologies. 

The overarching objective of this role is to design, build, operate, and mature the organisation's integration platform within the Azure technology stack, enabling support for new and ongoing Applications and Data projects, while upgrading, replacing, and decommissioning legacy integration platforms and processes. 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

 

Integration Design, Delivery & Support 

  • Establish and maintain agreed integration processes, standards, patterns, and practices with Change Management, Project Managers, Architects, Developers, and QA teams. 
  • Act as technical owner and SME for the integration platform and contribute to the future technology roadmap through evaluation and expert advice. 
  • Design, develop, configure, deploy, monitor, and support production integrations across the Applications and Data estate. 
  • Monitor business‑critical integrations, perform immediate remediation, recommend corrective actions, and ensure SLAs are met. 
  • Review technical specifications and participate in Architecture Review Boards, Change Evaluation, and Estimation meetings. 
  • Ensure full documentation of all work in line with agreed standards. 
  • Ensure all integration solutions comply with security, data protection, and regulatory requirements. 

 

Stakeholder & Architectural Support 

  • Work with Technical Architects and Domain Leads to define, establish, and enforce integration standards and designs. 
  • Influence and support key internal stakeholders. 
  • Support the Integration Architect in defining end‑to‑end integration architecture artefacts. 
  • Coordinate with data users and stakeholders to improve integration processes and data integration models, ensuring alignment with business goals. 
  • Promote continuous improvement in data and integration architecture maturity across the organisation. 

 

Operating Context & Relationships 

  • Environment: Critical role within IT Applications, supporting many business‑critical systems and contributing significantly to IS Capital Programme delivery. 
  • Working Conditions: Time‑pressured environment to meet SLAs and project deadlines; occasional extended or unsocial hours required during releases or implementations. 
  • Reporting Line: CIO → Head of IT Applications → Software Development & Application Support Manager → Software Development Team Leader. 
  • People: No direct reports; provides mentoring, guidance, and technical leadership to permanent staff, offshore resources, contractors, and partners. 
  • Contacts: Regular collaboration across IT and the wider business; engagement with external suppliers, agencies, partners, and contractors. 
  • Business Impact: No direct budget responsibility, but effective management of integrations significantly impacts business efficiency, operating costs, revenue protection, and staff productivity across Wessex Water and YTL UK Group. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering (or related discipline) or equivalent professional experience. 
  • Agile & Planning (one required): Azure DevOps (ADO), Jira, Asana 
  • Source Control (one required): Azure DevOps (ADO), GitHub, Team Foundation Server (TFS) 
  • Must have: .NET / C# / Framework 4.8 / .NET Core 6, Web Services, Microsoft SQL Server, Node.js, JavaScript, PowerShell. 
  • Nice to have: GoLang, Python, Bash, Ruby, Perl, Terraform, YAML, JSON, Chocolatey. 
  • Must have: Visual Studio, NPM 
  • Nice to have: Terraform, Bicep, ARM, Bower, Containers/Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) 
  • Must have: Azure Logic Apps, Azure API Management, Azure Service Bus, Azure Functions, Azure Data Factory, Azure Event Grid 
  • Nice to have: AWS equivalent services, MuleSoft, Boomi 
  • Testing (one required): SonarQube, Katalon, Selenium, Appium 
  • Must have: Azure DevOps (ADO) 
  • Nice to have: Octopus Deploy, Jenkins, LaunchDarkly, Ansible
