Air Liquide Europe Business Services (ALEBS) was created in 2019 in Lisbon, Portugal with the mandate to provide financial services for Air Liquide European entities. In the space of 4 years, it has expanded to over 400 employees based in 3 office locations: Lisbon, Tomar and Guarda. The geographical scope was extended to include, besides the European affiliates also entities located in Africa, Middle-East and India, and the operational scope was extended and includes today not just Finance, but also Human Resources.
Missions & Responsibilites
The Director of GBS HR Process Transformation & Operational Excellence holds a key leadership role that spans the entire organization, reporting to the GBS HR Global Process Owner (GPO). This strategic role is tasked with translating the GPO's strategy and roadmap into operational reality through actionable global execution plans.
The core accountability of this role is to champion the standardization and continuous improvement of existing, globally-defined HR processes within GBS. This involves ensuring the successful, on-time, and on-budget execution of the defined process roadmap, guaranteeing global adoption, efficiency, and compliance. Ultimately, the Director is responsible for the rigorous enforcement of the governance model, driving the operational realization of standardized, efficient, and compliant service delivery worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy Implementation & Execution
- Drives Roadmap Execution: Manage and execute the multi-year process roadmap and strategy as defined by the GPO. This includes translating the Future State process model into detailed project plans, milestones, and deliverables.
- Operates and enforces Governance: Establish, operate and enforce the global process governance framework defined for all process changes. This includes managing the intake, prioritization, and approval process for all continuous improvement and technology-related process requests from regional teams.
- Compliance & Risks: Directs the implementation of control standards, conducts audits to ensure global/local legal compliance, and mitigates process-related risks.
Enterprise HR Process Transformation
- Process Optimization: Responsible for mapping as-is and to-be processes, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing changes to create leaner, more efficient workflows.
- Continuous Improvement (CI): Manages the CI portfolio by leveraging AI and automation to ensure projects meet business case benefits, across all assigned HR and Payroll domains.
- Technology Realization: Partners closely with HR, Finance, and IT project teams to execute the HR technology roadmap. This role ensures that system configurations and new technology rollouts are fully aligned with, and effectively enable, the mandated global process design.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Monitors performance through KPIs and SLAs ; Provide strategic analysis to the GPO on execution risks, barriers to standardization, and the performance impact of implemented changes.

Profile & Competencies
Profile overview:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources, Shared Services, or Global Business Operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focused on global process transformation and strategy.
- Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification, PMP or other senior-level change management certifications highly desirable.
- English mandatory.
Key Interpersonal Skills:
- Strategic thinking and vision: Ability to move beyond day-to-day operations and develop a long-term strategy for HR process harmonization, including system standardization, and continuous improvement.
- Change Management: Lead the adoption of new HR processes and systems, in collaboration with regional GBS teams ; Manage the deployment of change management plans, ensuring all regional GBS centers, local HR teams, and end-users are prepared and trained for the transition to the new global processes.
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for all process issues and escalations ; Collaborate with key stakeholders across HR, Finance, IT, and regional GBS centers to ensure alignment and support for the global adoption of the GPO's standardized process model. This includes the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Cross-Cultural Communication: Ability to navigate cultural differences and adapt communication styles to effectively lead and collaborate with global teams and vendors from various countries.
- Team Leadership: Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the process execution team ; Drive performance, accountability, and excellence in project delivery.
