Managing the day-to-day operations of the irrigation, including scheduling and supervising staff, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and to a high standard. Developing and implementing irrigation plans based on factors like plant needs, soil conditions, and water availability.
Overseeing the growing and maintenance of plants as it relates to irrigation and climatic control. Monitoring water usage, creating irrigation schedules, and optimizing water distribution to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
Managing irrigation systems and ensuring that plants receive the correct amount of water and nutrients.
Ensuring that the site irrigation systems and climatic control is well-maintained, and that equipment is in good working order.
Managing inventory and ordering supplies as needed.
Developing and implementing irrigation strategies to increase plant growth and improve efficiency.
Managing irrigation budgets and ensuring that the sites operate within financial constraints. Ensuring that all health and safety regulations are followed, and that the sites operate in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Managing and training irrigation staff, providing guidance on best practices, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols
Supervising the construction of new irrigation systems or repairing existing ones
Preparing reports, writing memos, and speaking with clients about the progress of an irrigation project.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in horticulture or a related field
Solid experience managing an irrigation and or climatic control system with similar operation
Strong organizational and management skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Deep understanding of irrigation systems and plant care
Proficiency in Rain Bird irrigation system design software, water resource management principles, and data analysis
Knowledge of HVAC systems, building and irrigation automation systems (BAS), and energy management systems (EMS)
Knowledge of Rain Bird site control and BMS systems
Familiarity with smart thermostats, automated blinds, and other nursery technologies that can enhance climate control in conservatories
English written and spoken
Excellent numeracy skills, attention to detail and accuracy
