Position Summary:
Leads end-to-end Product & Test Engineering for the Lumileds Penang site (L1 & L2), covering yield, utilization, color control, NPI, and subcontractor operations across Southeast Asia. Acts as a key interface across site functions and global stakeholders, including R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Marketing.
Drives strategies to ensure optimal product quality and performance, with strong focus on yield, binning, and manufacturability to meet customer requirements. Partners closely with R&D and site leadership to enhance product competitiveness in cost, quality, and market performance.
Builds and leads a high-performing engineering organization, fostering continuous improvement and long-term capability development.
Who You Are:
Product Engineering
- Drive engineering performance across yield, utilization, quality, cost and delivery through structured improvement programs.
- Establish and manage KPIs and performance metrics, partnering cross-functionally to ensure execution and results.
- Collaborate with Planning and Manufacturing to meet production, cost and delivery targets.
- Partner with R&D and Marketing to ensure successful NPI, enabling manufacturability, fast time-to-market and product reliability.
NPI, Proliferation & Cost Optimization
- Lead NPI and product proliferation activities, partnering with global engineering teams to achieve timely market delivery and engineering targets.
- Drive cost reduction and productivity improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency and competitiveness.
Test Engineering
- Lead Test Engineering operations, ensuring effective maintenance, upgrade, and optimization of production test equipment to meet performance and quality standards.
- Drive tester and equipment strategies to improve OEE, reduce variation, and optimize cost of ownership.
- Enhance product quality and operational performance through systematic processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Build a high-performing organization, fostering capability development, accountability, and empowered decision-making
Color Control Engineering
- Lead Color Control Engineering, partnering with global teams to drive product performance and support roadmap execution aligned to market needs.
Subcontractor Operations
- Lead Southeast Asia subcontractor operations, partnering with SCM and Procurement to ensure effective production planning, capacity readiness, and successful NPI ramp.
Leadership & Compliance
- Talent Development: Hires, develops, and coaches subordinates to foster continuous improvement and career progression.
- Compliance & Safety: Understands and enforces supply chain security practices, Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements.
What You Will Bring (Required Qualifications):
- Minimum 15 years of related Engineering and Management experience specifically in Product Engineering or Test Engineering.
- Experience in the LED industry is an added advantage.
- Great skills in common sense engineering- must be an expert in standard engineering management tools.
- Ability to lead and coach at all levels and collaborate well across boundaries with local and globally.
