Our client is a globally recognised manufacturer of high-quality laboratory and process technology equipment. Headquartered in Germany with a strong presence across Asia, they serve industries including chemical, pharmaceutical, food processing, and materials science. The company is known for its innovative processing and laboratory equipment, and operates with rigorous global quality standards enforced across all manufacturing sites. The Quality Director will be responsible for leading and overseeing the full Quality Management function at the client's Malaysia manufacturing site. Reporting into HQ in Germany, this is a senior leadership role that requires deep expertise in quality assurance and quality control, a strong command of international quality standards, and the ability to bridge global expectations with local execution. The role covers quality strategy, process governance, product quality, supplier management, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Management System
- Ensure full implementation and maintenance of all HQ-defined quality, compliance, and documentation requirements, including ISO 9001, NRTL, CE, and ATEX/SEV.
- Guarantee site-wide adherence to global quality policies and standards.
2. Quality Strategy & Process Governance
- Deploy and monitor corporate-defined quality methods, processes, and programmes at the site level.
- Ensure process stability and drive continuous improvement in alignment with HQ expectations.
3. Product & Production Quality
- Execute global advanced quality planning (APQP or equivalent) for new products.
- Ensure that HQ quality requirements are met throughout development, industrialisation, and mass production.
4. Supplier & Stakeholder Management
- Apply HQ specifications in supplier selection, qualification, and ongoing performance oversight.
- Maintain strong coordination with HQ Quality and all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
5. Reporting & Documentation
- Ensure complete, accurate, and compliant quality documentation in accordance with HQ guidelines.
- Provide regular reporting of quality metrics, risks, and improvement activities to HQ and local leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 12–15 years of experience in Quality Management within a manufacturing environment, covering both QA and QC functions.
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience leading and developing QA/QC teams at both senior and junior levels.
- Extensive experience and deep understanding of QA, including customer requirements, product appearance, and product quality standards.
- Solid practical knowledge of APQP quality tools and related methodologies including PPAP, FMEA, SPC, 8D, and RCA.
- Solid knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards: UL, CE, ATEX/SEV.
- Experience implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Experience with product development processes, industrialisation, and new product introduction (NPI).
- Experience in supplier quality management, ideally within Asia–Pacific supply chains.
- Proficiency in Lean and Six Sigma process optimisation methodologies.
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and test requirements.

- Excellent cross-cultural communication skills, particularly between HQ Germany and the Malaysia site.
