Site Operations Department
The Site Operations Department is responsible for the overall health of all mechanical and electrical systems, building maintenance, and performance of all data modules in our data centers. The team is staffed 24 x 7 onsite with Critical Facilities Engineers (CFEs) working on shift. This team is the face of Vantage to our customers and the guaranty of business continuity and excellence of Operations of our campus as well as the performance of our customer installations. Using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to plan and track maintenance activities, the Site Operations department is responsible for all preventative and corrective maintenance. Our culture expects and rewards team performance that engages directly with the customers and the facility infrastructure. This is a team that does most of the actual work versus calling upon vendors. As a result, we provide superior service that is faster and more cost effective.
Position Description
The Director, Site Operations owns the overall operations for one, or more, of our data center campuses and will directly manage manager-level positions. This position will interface with Reliability Engineering, Design Engineering and Construction, plus other resources to manage the overall campus. This position is responsible for ensuring best-in-class standards for operational performance to ensure safety, security, availability, and capacity targets are achieved and maintained for your assigned facility or facilities.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage the operations and engineering functions at the property with the objectives of safely and effectively operating machinery and building systems.
- Ensure a best-in-class customer experience and the excellence in operations.
- Lead, manage, coach, and develop the site operations and engineering teams.
- Encourage and foster a team-oriented environment through positive feedback.
Duties
- Manage allocated resources to achieve desired results relating to customer satisfaction, infrastructure reliability, site-level budget, key performance indicators according to guidelines given by Vantage.
- Collaborate with EHS to implement strategies that create an exemplary workplace safety culture.
- Ensure that the site is supported by Vantage Operations with Best Practice standards employed and 100% compliant to all regulatory elements in force.
- Contribute to the prospective customer opportunities, includes providing input to tender responses, participating in calls and facilitating customer site visits, when needed.
- Develop operations budget and manage capital expenditure and operating expenses in the line with set targets.
- Working with your peers and the Vice President, Site Operations to determine appropriate team performance goals and manage those to completion.
- Evaluate and manage performance reviews for all employees in your organization, seek out input from others and provide feedback and coaching to manage individuals and teams.
- Produce a variety of reliable reports, data and metrics, in line with Company requests.
- Develop data-driven strategies to drive optimization of operational processes, systems, and telemetry.
- Inspire and motivate teams to innovate and automate through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Obtain or maintain target ISO accreditations through education, audit and compliance.
- Act as senior representative for the business in Malaysia.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related field, or equivalent work experience required.
- 10+ years of experience in facility/plant engineering and maintenance supervision, strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of direct managerial experience and interpersonal skills, strongly preferred.
- Experience in Data Center or Critical Infrastructure industries strongly preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of physical security in a critical environment, strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate internally with team members as well as externally with vendors and other service providers.
- Proven track record of managing periods of significant people, process and technology change.
- Excellent planning and organisation skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Assertive and confident and able to quickly build a high level of personal and professional credibility within the business and customer base.
- Ability to lead and engage people in a fast-changing environment to achieve results through others.
- Ability to build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, influencing and negotiating at the most senior levels.
- Effective cross-function collaboration to achieve shared goals and deliver business objectives.
- Confident decision maker, even with incomplete or limited information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and building automation systems.
- Travel is expected to be less than 5%, occasionally for training purposes.
