Direct, organize, and manage the overall implementation of COMPANY offshore and onshore exploration drilling activities at the work sites in accordance with approved programs, procedures, and practices with the objective of achieving optimum operating cost, safeguarding personnel and assets, and protecting the environment.
Provide technical input and feedback on well design, drilling programs, and operational planning.
Review SID program and ensure operational readiness prior to execution.
Lead and oversee Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) / Constant Bottom Hole Pressure (CBHP) operations including planning, execution, risk assessment, and performance optimization.
Coordinate with MPD service providers, drilling contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and efficient MPD implementation.
Provide technical expertise to troubleshoot major operational problems including well control incidents, pressure management issues, stuck pipe, losses, kicks, and other drilling emergencies.
Manage drilling activities safely by implementing and enforcing good oilfield drilling practices, MPD operational standards, and statutory requirements.
Identify unsafe practices and operational risks and recommend innovative technical solutions to improve drilling performance and safety.
Plan and control rig activities including timely scheduling of equipment, materials, MPD packages, and services to avoid costly operational delays.
Enhance operational efficiency by continuously evaluating drilling practices, procedures, and performance and recommending improvements.
Participate in post-drilling performance analysis and lessons learned reviews including MPD / CBHP operational evaluation.
Conduct competency assessment, establish training plans, support, and develop permanent staff and drilling team personnel.
Requirements
Bachelor Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
Possess valid IWCF Level 4 (Drilling).
Minimum twenty-five (25) years of experience in well engineering and drilling operations.
Minimum five (5) years of experience as Drilling Superintendent.
Hands-on experience in Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) and Constant Bottom Hole Pressure (CBHP) operations for offshore and/or HPHT wells.
Experience in planning and executing MPD campaigns including pressure window management, well control mitigation, and narrow drilling margin operations.
Familiar with MPD systems, rotating control devices (RCD), choke manifold systems, and real-time pressure monitoring.
Experience working with MPD service providers such as Weatherford, SLB, Halliburton, or equivalent is an added advantage.
Knowledge in drilling engineering software such as Compass, WellPlan, WellCAT, StressCheck, OpenWells, Drillbench, WellBarrier, and related applications.
Strong understanding of well control, well integrity, drilling optimization, and pressure management philosophy.
