JOB DESCRIPTION

The E&I Drafter Supervisor impacts the level of service and the team's ability to meet quality and timeliness objectives. They supervise technical employees and are accountable for the team's results within the E&I Drafting discipline. The E&I Drafter Supervisor adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Policies, procedures, business plans, and management guidance guide their decisions.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain the resources of the electrical and instrumentation group assigned including the team of drafters, the work hours allotted, the necessary drafting software and programs, and the working methods developed
  • Ensure development, application, and maintenance of relevant fabrication standards and technical guides
  • Supervise a team of electrical draftsmen in the EPCI industry to ensure accurate and timely completion of electrical and instrumentation design drawings and documentation
  • Implement measurement and monitoring of necessary key performance indicators to manage the deliverables of the assigned group
  • Coordinate, review, and provide technical guidance to draftsmen in the preparation of electrical and instrumentation shop drawings and 3D modeling
  • Collaborate with the project management team, site engineering team, and fabrication teams to ensure the smooth integration of electrical shop drawings into overall project plans
  • Coordinate with the site engineering team to establish project milestones and deliverables, allocating resources and monitoring progress accordingly
  • Assist the E&I Manager with preparing estimates for proposals and change orders
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations in all electrical design activities
  • Conduct quality checks on electrical drawings and documentation to maintain consistency and accuracy
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance drafting efficiency and productivity
  • Assist in conducting training programs and mentorship to develop the technical skills of draftsmen
  • Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures
  • Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures
  • Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a focus on technical drafting or design; a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a senior electrical Drafter or in a similar role within the EPCI sector, showcasing expertise in creating intricate and complex electrical drawings with at least 2 years of supervisory experience; or a minimum of 18 years of drafter experience in EPCI project work with at least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Proficient in software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, and other industry-standard design tools
  • Deep knowledge of electrical systems, components, and equipment commonly used in construction projects
  • Solid understanding of EPCI processes, workflows, and various project phases to support throughout the fabrication life cycle Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve highly complex electrical shop drawing issues, employing creative solutions when needed
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively supervise a team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills to effectively manage group work hours in anticipation of multiple tasks, changing workload priorities, and challenging deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines
