Job Title: EHS Engineer
Location: Penang Technology Park, Malaysia
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance
- Serve as the primary liaison with local regulatory bodies including DOSH/JKKP and DOE
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act, Factories and Machinery Act, and Environmental Quality Act
- Maintain and renew all statutory licenses, permits, and equipment certifications (PMA/PMT, hoisting permits, etc.)
Workplace Safety & Risk Management
- Conduct regular HIRARC assessments for facility and production activities
- Manage the Permit to Work (PTw) system for high-risk tasks (Confined Space, Hot Work, LOTO, Working at Heights)
- Lead incident investigations using RCA and drive CAPA implementation
Environmental & Waste Management
- Oversee Scheduled Waste storage, handling, and compliant disposal
- Monitor emissions and effluent indicators to ensure discharge stays within statutory limits
- Manage Chemical SDS and maintain proper secondary containment for storage areas
Fire Life Safety & Emergency Response
- Custodian of fire protection systems (FM200, sprinklers, detectors, pumps)
- Train and coordinate the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and First Aid team
- Plan and execute annual fire drills and evacuation simulations
Safety Culture & Contractor Management
- Conduct safety inductions for new hires, contractors, and visitors
- Perform safety audits on contractors during installation and hook-up projects
- Track EHS metrics (zero LTI, near-miss reporting) and report to Facilities Head and HQ
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 3 to 5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or semiconductor packaging environment
Certifications (Highly Preferred)
- Registered SHO with valid DOSH Green Book certification
- CePSWAM, CePIETS, or CePBFO certification is a major plus
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent command of English and Bahasa Malaysia
- Mandarin proficiency is highly advantageous for reading technical documents and reporting to HQ
- Diplomatic yet assertive communication style
- Strong analytical mindset with practical risk mitigation focus
