About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated
EHS Specialist to join our Data Center Construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving Environment, Health, and Safety standards across the construction site. You will ensure that all construction activities—from heavy civil works to MEP installations—comply with stringent safety regulations and zero‑harm objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Safety Management
- Develop, implement, and enforce site‑specific EHS plans, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct daily site walks and safety inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with local regulations and corporate standards.
- Lead Toolbox Talks and safety briefings for workers and subcontractors.
- Monitor high‑risk activities including:
- Working at height
- Confined space entry
- Rigging and lifting operations
- Hot work (welding/cutting)
- Excavation and trenching
- Training & Competency
- Deliver EHS induction training for all new site personnel.
- Coordinate specialized safety training (e.g., First Aid, Fire Watch, Working at Height).
- Verify that all workers possess valid certifications and permits to work.
- Incident Management
- Lead incident and near‑miss investigations using root‑cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone).
- Prepare detailed incident reports and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain EHS statistics and dashboards (LTIFR, TRIR, etc.).
- Environmental Compliance
- Monitor environmental aspects of construction, including:
- Waste management and disposal
- Stormwater pollution prevention (SWPPP)
- Noise and dust control
- Hazardous material handling
- Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 standards where applicable.
- Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as the primary EHS point of contact for the client, main contractor, and subcontractors.
- Liaise with local regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
- Support the Project Manager in preparing EHS sections of monthly progress reports.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in construction, preferably in data center, mission‑critical, or heavy industrial projects.
- Professional certification is highly preferred:
- NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or Diploma
- OSHA 30‑Hour Construction
- Registered Safety Officer (RSO) or equivalent local license
- Strong knowledge of:
- Local construction safety laws and regulations
- Data center specific risks (e.g., generator fuel handling, high‑voltage testing)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with EHS management software is a plus.
