POSITION SUMMARY
- Manage and oversee all scheduled and unscheduled Electrical and Automation and Instrumentation repairs for the VMM Port equipment.
- Equipment includes but is not limited to stacker/reclaimers, ship loaders, ship unloaders, conveyor systems.
- On a micro level the equipment includes PLC, SCADA, HMI, LV and HV infrastructure, a variety of instrumentation.
- Support the site in achieving required KPI's around Safety, Health, Environment, Cost and Production Volume.
- Effectively manage all HR requirements pertaining to full-time staff and Business Partner within the E & A team.
- Support Engineering and Planning department in achieving require Availability and Reliability of Assets.
DIMENSIONS
The role is a key driver in achieving leading indicators that will contribute to the overall lagging indicators for the VMM site.
General
Contract manager for all Business Partners involved in the E & A execution activities.
- Supervisor for all execution E & A vale personnel
Specific Manage the E & A budget effectively as per annual KPI
- Achieve Safety leading indicators as per agreed targets
- Achieve Asset Management KPI's as agreed: Schedule compliance, closing of Work Orders in a timely fashion, ensuring all feedback from work execution is captured.
- Adhere to local Malaysian legislation pertaining to Safety, Health, Environment and electrical installation and maintenance compliance.
- Ensuring employed staff have the correct competencies required for their positions
- Ensuring all E&A work is completed to an acceptable standard of quality.
MAIN CHALLENGES
Focusing on day-to-day activities while also delivering on strategic action plans and improvement initiatives.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical reference point for E&A fault finding
- Accountability for all E&A repair scopes
- Manage a team of E&A technicians
- Manage all electrical maintenance contracts
- Responsible for teams adherence to Vale's protocols and procedures
- Responsible for cost forecasting and budgeting
- Responsible for achieving Leading and Lagging KPI's as per department's Business Plan and align with: Safety, Cost and Volume and People development.
- Develop and coach team to achieve high quality performance
- Liaise effectively with Planning and Inspections teams to optimize labour utilization.
- Participate and provide input for all weekly and shutdown schedules.
- Ensure the labour force is developed and trained to meet all safety legislative and production requirements
- Ensure E&A maintenance activities is performed to benchmark quality standards and legislative minimum requirements.
- Initiate and participate in all Continuous Improvement activities as well as 5S activities.
- Participate and lead Critical safety committee as assigned to the position.
- Execute corrective actions assigned from RCA's, Safety Incidents.
QUALIFICATION
- Experience: At least 10 years experience in a supervisory or other senior electrical position within a complex production, processing, port or mining environment.
- Academic education: Electrical or Automation Engineering degree.
- Specific knowledge:
- CMMS – SAP knowledge will be advantageous
- Knowledge around Malaysian Electrical Legislation
- HV substation and HV yard maintenance experience.
Experience
- Demonstrated track record of leading an E&A team within heavy industry, mining or ports.
- Experience in continuous improvement or minor projects.
- A background in implementation of complex control or automation systems.
- Demonstrated ability in improving performance in safety and operations/maintenance execution.
- Success stories in people development.
- Participation or leading position within budget setting and cost management of an E&A department.
