Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing and optimizing CNC Router production processes for sheet plastic manufacturing. Drives quality, efficiency, and throughput across the full production lifecycle — from programming and setup to final part inspection — ensuring on-quality, on-time, and on-cost delivery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Program and optimize CNC Router operations for sheet plastic materials including Acrylic, Polycarbonate, HDPE, UHMW-PE, PVC, and ABS.
- Develop and maintain CAM programs using Alphacam and/or Cimatron for 2D and 3D routing operations.
- Read, interpret, and create mechanical drawings using 2D/3D CAD software (SolidWorks).
- Design and develop jigs, fixtures, and vacuum hold-down systems specific to sheet plastic routing.
- Contribute to on-quality, on-time, and on-cost objectives of production.
- Define and optimize cutting parameters (feed rates, spindle speeds, depth of cut) for various plastic substrates to minimize melting, chipping, and burr formation.
- Write and maintain Standard Operating Procedures / Work Instructions (SOP/WI) for CNC Router processes.
- Train operators on machine setup, program loading, and safe operation of CNC Routers.
- Participate in and lead troubleshooting for production issues; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure periodical achievement of Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA).
- Verify quality of finished parts using appropriate measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMM as needed).
- Interface with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders for tooling, material, and process improvements.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, waste reduction, and continuous improvement.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) from development stage through to mass production.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
- Speaks fluent English, good communication abilities, experience with communicating projects in global company.
- Solid knowledge of CNC Router operations and plastic machining principles.
- Proficient with CAD/CAM systems: SolidWorks, SolidCAM, Alphacam, and/or Cimatron.
- Understanding of G & M code programming (Fanuc-based controllers preferred).
- Knowledge of plastic material properties and their machining characteristics.
- Able to interpret mechanical drawings; knowledge of GD&T.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Implementation and monitoring of work routines and production schedules.
- Knowledge of quality assurance techniques and measurement tools.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Plastic manufacturing related experience is an advantage.
Education, Certifications, Requirements:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a CNC Engineer or Production Engineer, preferably in plastic machining.
- Degree in any engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Mechatronic.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and tool & fixture design.
- Experience in machining of plastic materials (Acrylic, Polycarbonate, HDPE, PVC, ABS).
- Familiarity with manufacturing process equipment and quality assurance techniques.
- Experience with CNC Router machines (3-axis and 5-axis).
- Well-versed in relevant software (SolidWorks, SolidCAM, Alphacam, Cimatron) — advantage.
- Working in ISO 9001:2015 environment organizations
