Engineer, R&D (ME) Design

We're looking to add an Engineer, R&D (ME) in Bayan Lepas plant.

As an Engineer, R&D (ME) Design, You will:

• Lead the design and development of mechanical systems and components using CAD software.
• Create detailed design specifications, technical drawings, and 3D models.
• Perform simulations, analysis, and testing to validate design concepts and optimise performance.
• Manage mechanical design projects from concept to production, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
• Develop project plans, timelines, and resource allocations to meet project goals.
• Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design issues during development and production phases.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
• Lead design reviews, technical discussions, and brainstorming sessions to drive innovation and improvement.
• Work closely with clients to understand their requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Prepare and present technical reports, design proposals, and project updates to stakeholders.
• Facilitate effective communication within the team and with external partners.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and efficiency gains.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical design.
• Implement innovative solutions and contribute to the development of new design methodologies.

What skills and experiences are we looking:

Education And Experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering.

Proven track record of leading successful mechanical design projects.

Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.

Understanding of market trends and advancements in mechanical design technologies.

Job-Related Skills & Pre-Requisites

• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with tolerance stack-up analysis, FEA, and DFM.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
• Skilled in project planning, resource allocation, and risk management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex design challenges.
• Ability to make informed decisions and develop innovative solutions.

Soft Skills

• Strong leadership skills with experience in mentoring and developing junior engineers.
• Capable to lead technical discussions and design reviews.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
• Strong skill to present technical information clearly and concisely.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build positive working relationships.
