Role Purpose
The Engineering Lead is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of plant equipment, utilities, and engineering systems. The role ensures smooth plant operations by maintaining high equipment availability, driving preventive maintenance programs, and supporting production efficiency, safety, and compliance standards.
The Engineering Lead works closely with production, quality, and safety teams to ensure engineering activities support operational targets, cost efficiency, and long-term asset performance.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Reliability
- Lead preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure high equipment reliability and minimal downtime.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules, inspection routines, and improvement initiatives.
- Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and coordinate timely corrective actions.
Engineering & Project Management
- Lead plant engineering projects including equipment installation, upgrades, and process improvements.
- Manage capital expenditure projects from planning through execution and commissioning.
- Support automation, productivity improvement, and cost optimization initiatives.
Utilities & Facility Management
- Oversee plant utilities including power supply, compressed air, water systems, and other critical infrastructure
- Ensure utilities operate efficiently and meet operational requirements.
Compliance, Safety & Standards
- Ensure engineering operations comply with safety regulations, environmental requirements, and internal standards.
- Support safety initiatives and ensure engineering activities follow safe work practices.
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the engineering and maintenance team through coaching, training, and performance management.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with production, quality, and safety teams to support operational performance and problem-solving.
- Provide technical expertise to support process optimization and product quality.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related discipline).
- Minimum 810 years of engineering or maintenance experience, preferably within manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, equipment reliability, and plant engineering systems.
- Experience managing engineering projects and maintenance teams.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Candidates must be willing to be based in Balakong.
