Job Description

We are partnering with a leading Malaysian manufacturer specializing in automotive leather and interior solutions, with a strong presence in both local and international markets. As part of their continued expansion, they are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead engineering operations, drive process improvements, and support overall manufacturing excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop engineering and production teams, including capability building and training initiatives.
  • Oversee end-to-end seat assembly and leather cover operations, ensuring compliance with OEM quality, safety, and delivery standards.
  • Improve production efficiency through line balancing, workflow optimization, and takt time management.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, 5S, poka-yoke) to enhance productivity and reduce cost, scrap, and rework.
  • Conduct process audits, capacity analysis, and layout/space utilization studies to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across processes including seat structure, foam, cutting, sewing, wrapping, trimming, and final assembly.
  • Implement automation and engineering solutions to improve efficiency and reduce manual dependency.
  • Establish and maintain production control systems, ensuring machines, tools, jigs, and fixtures are properly managed.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI/NPD) and product launches, including operator readiness and process setup.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure consistent quality, timely delivery, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Hands-on experience in automotive seat assembly processes, including structure, foam, trimming, and final assembly.
  • Proven track record in process improvement, lean manufacturing, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience in new product introduction (NPD), automation, and quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949 / ISO).
