Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Technician II, Sand Blast & CST Lab Specialist to lead the setup, commissioning, and operation of our internal sand blast facility and CST lab. The ideal candidate must have hands-on expertise in industrial sand blasting, process development, and team leadership to ensure high-quality outputs while maintaining safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Facility Setup & Commissioning
- Lead the end-to-end setup of the sand blast facility and CST lab.
- Define equipment specifications and oversee installation, qualification, and commissioning.
- Ensure readiness of tools, jigs, consumables, and utilities.
- Establish preventive maintenance plans and spare parts inventory.
- Collaborate with Facilities, Engineering, and EHS teams to meet site requirements.
Process Development & Documentation
- Develop, validate, and optimize sand blasting process parameters.
- Define blasting criteria to meet Sputter Engineering requirements.
- Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions (receiving, masking, blasting, cleaning, QC, packaging).
- Establish quality control standards and inspection methods.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with EHS standards, including PPE, dust control, and waste disposal.
- Conduct risk assessments prior to operation go-live.
Operation Management
- Supervise daily sand blast operations to achieve required volume and quality.
- Monitor yield, defect rates, machine uptime, and media consumption.
- Manage job tracking, documentation, and reporting.
Training & Team Development
- Recruit (if required), train, and certify operators.
- Build team capability to support 24/7 operations.
- Transfer knowledge to ensure smooth handover to internal teams.
Continuous Improvement & Technical Support
- Troubleshoot process and quality issues.
- Drive process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvement.
- Support Sputter Engineering initiatives and facility enhancements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience in industrial sand blasting.
- Proven experience in equipment setup and commissioning.
- Strong understanding of blasting parameters (media, pressure, surface finish).
- Ability to develop SOPs and work instructions.
- Experience troubleshooting process and quality issues.
- Basic machine maintenance knowledge.
- Experience supervising and training operators.
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to EHS standards.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, and take ownership of tasks.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
Preferred / Bonus Skills:
- Experience in sputter target or precision surface treatment.
- Knowledge of process optimization (yield, cycle time, cost).
- Familiarity with KPI/OEE tracking.
- Experience establishing preventive maintenance systems.
- Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO).
Education & Experience:
- Diploma in any Engineering field with 5+ years of sand blast process experience.
